    Tire Tread Help!

I bought my '07 2.0t back in December and absolutely love it. The only problem is a humming noise that can be heard at all speeds and turning doesn't affect the noise so I was leaning toward road noise from the crappy tires the dealer put on it. Then I noticed that the tread is facing one direction on the left, and is reversed on the right. The dealer said the tires are an "inside outside" pattern, but I can't imagine these being any good in the rain if that's the case. What do you guys think?

I've seen front and rears opposite but never left and rights. Sounds like your dealer made a mistake and is trying to cover it up. Go get them swapped to the correct way.

Maybe tell us what tires you actually have.

Yes, some are directional, some are inside outside. Inside/outside tires will look that way. Just check that all four say "outside" on the outside sidewall and aren't mounted on the wheel in the wrong orientation, otherwise that's how they will look and you're good to go.

For example this is what my summers look like, Sumitomo HTR Z III's. They are asymmetric, inside outside, tires. You can see how you might wonder if they were directional but they are not.

They are Turanzo Sa-05 or something like that, not a brand I am familiar with. They do differentiate between the inside and outside though and the pattern is very different. Oh well, I was hoping this would be a quick fix but sounds like I just need to buy better tires.

    Thanks for the input!

Trazano! And ya, a pretty inexpensive tire. $75 each here: http://www.tirestaroutlet.com/tires/...a05-235-40r18/

    Ultra high performance though, apparently.
