Possible to use a ECU from a diferent B6?

    All,

I have been planning on upgrading to a Stage 1+ tune after riding in a local persons B6 USP. I've recently aquired some TT225 injectors, so I'm shooting for a Stage 1+ tune. Before I start figuring out what company to go with, I was wondering if by chance I came across someone parting out their A4 that had a tune, would I be able to buy and use their tuned ECU with my car? I know the SKC and have programmed my own keys from scratch, so I've done some Vag Commander work.

If so, do I have to defeat the immobilizer? I would rather not, as that is what doesn't allow just any old key to start the car, at least from my reading. Ideally, I'd have both a stock set of injectors and ecu along with a tuned ECU and larger injectors.

Figured I would see what this was about before going to APR or another tuning company to get tuned.

A ecu from the same year with the immobilizer defeated will be able to run the car with no issues. I ran around with another ecu for about a week while mine was being tuned. Once again, as long as the immobilizer is defeated you are good to go.

Of course, same engine, same year (maybe) and same level tune so you do not run into any issues - but isnt exactly necessary.

Year doesn't matter except for the 02's. 02 ECU will only work with 02's. 03-05 are all the same.

depends on the tune - some/most will revert to a stock-like mode if the paired VIN changes, so having the SKC doesn't help, immo defeat is the only way. It would be easier just to get flashed with a tune that allows you to switch between stock/performance modes without having to change hardware

Figured that might be the case. That's ok, just figured I would check to make sure.
