    automatic trunk opening

So my trunk struts are going bad. They still hold it open when the trunk is all the way up, after you get it there with more effort than should be necessary, but the trunk will slam shut really hard if you don't control it carefully the whole way down. I was googling the strut replacement and reading a few threads about oem vs aftermarket etc when I came across something where people mentioned newer Audi's having trunks that will open all the way remotely. On my key fob I do have the middle button that makes the trunk unlatch remotely if I hold it down, but that's all it does - it unlatches so that it can be opened by hand. I think it would be cool if I could make that button open the trunk all the way, like it can on some other vehicles. Here's a video I found where somebody modified the trunk struts on his Skoda so it does what I'm talking about - http://s226.photobucket.com/user/pro...00366.mp4.html

So my question for the community is, has anyone here done this modification to a B6 before? I did a quick search and didn't find any threads on this topic specifically.
Also, I read that some B7 Audis had this feature from the factory, can anyone say if it was available for the S4? And if so, what would it take to retrofit it to my B6?
Also lastly, the middle button on the key fob is supposed to just unlatch the trunk, right? For all I know, it's possible that button actually did open my trunk completely when the car was new, but that simply wasn't working the entire time I've owned the car due to weak struts?? I doubt that because I've had it for a couple years now and they just recently started feeling like they're going out

Pretty sure you just need struts with higher pressure in them

Well I'm still not sure whether the oem struts have enough pressure in them to do this or not. So the first question is really whether or not any B6 can do this? I assume not. If that's correct then the next question is, is there any trunk strut available that fits our cars and has high enough pressure to do this? If that's a no then I guess it could be done by adding springs like the guy in the video did, and if it comes down to that then it's a matter if finding the correct springs. I'm thinking there's gotta be a b6/b7 owner who's done this before, hopefully someone can make it easy for me lol

Be careful with the high pressure struts....I can see this for your trunks future...
