    Question 2013+ owners - What "issues" have you had? Looking to go APR Stage 2

    New member here that has done a fair share of searching and reading but from what I see many of the concerns were around the 2010 model year.

    That said, I'm looking to pick up a fairly low mileage S4 B8.5 from 2013-2014. The mod bug often bites me early and from what I have seen there are several modification options around a simply pulley and tune. APR is one that I'm more familiar with but am open to all.

    Anyway, what issues if any do the 2013+ units have that are causing owners to bring them in for warranty service? Your first hand experiences appreciated.

    Subscribed, because I have the same concerns. I pretty much have tabled mods til 50k, hopefully that should be enough time to see if anything pops up for the brave B8.5 owners.

    Not really. This engine has been around for 6 years now. People have been tuned since the beginning with no issues. The engines are extremely stout.

    The only thing I somewhat commonly see on CarFax are AC compressors and thermostats (the latter being found only on the earlier B8s).

    This is my mindset and understanding. I feel better about the potential for modding as it has been out for a while and the main failures I've seen are cooling system related pumps and thermo's. I did the same thing with my MS3, waited about 2yrs to mod it and see what's been proven and so far zero issues.

    I have a 2013 when i got it it had 19k on it.. by 22k it had APR Stage 2 on it and a AWE exhaust.. never had any issues car currently has 42k on it and i am itching to do more but the gains are minimal up ahead imo

    At about 25K miles, oil pressure monitor had to be replaced. My engine cut off on I94 near Chicago as I was told the monitor suddenly believed there was no oil pressure. Thank God I was in traffic, only going 40mph, in the far right lane and was able to pull off the road. Got a 60 mile tow to my dealer. If I had been going faster in a middle lane...could have been catastrophic. Other than that single life-threatening event, I've had no issues. :) Close to 30K miles now.

    Flashed with APR Stage 2/pulley at 800mi. Approaching 17k mi. now - zero issues.

    Mine has about 44k on it and it's making an odd single tick/thunk noise when first gear is engaged and also when i turn the ignition off. I also get occasional judder when engaging first so who knows... Hopefully they will check it out thoroughly at the 45k service.

    I have the same problem as above poster. I get a click around 7 MPH, while stopping, and when turning off the car

    I have a 2013 6MT and sport diff. No issues so far. Not a fan of the electric steering though.

    I have a 2013 with 17k miles on it and I've been APR Stage 2 for awhile now. Love every second of it. See my mod list in my sig for everything I've done.

    2013 here - APR stage 2 since 23K miles / approaching 30k miles with no issues so far besides the urge to slam the gas pedal =O

    I've got a 2015 with 8k miles on it. I'm trying to wait until about that 45k mile mark before I do anything to it. I just don't want to worry about anything under warranty and have to keep flashing it back to stock just to take it in. At the rate I'm going, I should hit 45k miles pretty soon.

    It's really tough cause my '08 A4 was reflashed with maybe 5k miles on it. That car has just under 100k miles an no major issues.

    Since the question was asked, I bought my car with the Stasis tune, sport suspension, and exhaust with 17k it now has 22K. This is covered under the factory warranty. I add this to the discussion because Audi was confident enough in their engine to do this is a huge testament to the confidence in the engine and the car to handle the increased HP and TQ. I am sure this car was engineered to become an AUDI RS4... if the market and economic climate would support it.

    That said I am looking to switch my tune to APR stage II with pully, and some of the cooling options, for more gains. Not concerned one bit....

    I just hit 15K miles, I am on the fence about doing a tune. I really want to go GIAC/AWE Stage 2 though.
