Question Advanced Key "Comfort Access" (Unlock with Key Fob in Pocket) Stopped Working

The archives had 3 threads that mentioned possible sensor failures but is this something only the dealer can diagnose? Both of my advanced keys can start the car (with key in my pocket), and the lock/unlock remote buttons work fine, and even the trunk release button too. But neither key will let me lock the car by pressing the little square button on the door handle, or unlock it by grasping the door handle. I already tried all 4 doors, put the key as close as possible to the car (even tried laying it on the roof or by the windshield in case the sensor is in the middle of the car), and replaced the batteries in my key fob with no change or improvement.

I did notice the following passage in the owner's manual:

If the diode on the driver's window sill lights up for about 30 seconds when the vehicle is locked, the central locking system or anti-theft alarm* is not working properly. Please have the
My car's red LED on the driver door does exactly this! Illuminates for exactly 30 seconds every time I lock the car (from the remote button on the fob since the door handle button isn't working).

Another clue is that I've not driven the car that often this winter, in case the battery or "power saving mode" may be relevant. The car may sit for a week or so before I drive it again.

Probably the nearfield sensor. Usually in the door itself.
This is something I would shell out for with the dealer unless you have an extended warranty.

Scan your car, your sensors might be broken. Two of mine failed and the dealer replaced all 4 with the updated ones.

Thanks for the suggestions. After obtaining VCDS, I found the following DTC error code. I guess I found my culprit?

    Address 05: Acc/Start Auth. (J393)
    1 Fault Found:

03285 - Sensor for Contact with Door Handle; Front Left
    011 - Open Circuit
I also found these, but I'm not sure if related:

    Address 6D: Trunk Elect. (J605)
    2 Faults Found:

    00317 - Rear Lid Control Module (J605)
    008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

    16347 - Control Module - EEPROM Error
    014 - Defective

Also paste your entire VCDs log. I don't like that last EEPROM error.
