    Cold start misfire

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Today I started my car as usual about 20 mins before I leave for work (2005 S4 6MT) and it didn't make any odd noises it just misfired, it was painfully obvious with the shaking, I gave it a little gas and it was gone. ObdII says cylinder 2 & 6
Chain makes very little to no noise on start up. And I didn't get any other codes aside from the two misfires.
98k on the odo, timing was done around 60k or so in 2009 or 2010, can't remember. Injectors, coil packs plugs and wires were done at the same time as well as a brand new trans all around 65-75k in 2009 or 10.
    Anything to be worried about?

I had about 1/8 of a tank left, but it was for about 2 seconds until I tapped the gas

Just out of curiosity, how cold was it outside? And how long had it been since you last parked it?

well... i dont like to run mine down that low... i get misfires, but also bad on the fuel pump and these are expensive :(
doesn't sound like a big deal, clear codes and keep on driving unless something else comes up...

by chance have you ever pulled you IM to clean it out... that or maybe a vacuum leak... if it is bad, it will get worse pretty quick and probably throw a code

Nothing bad, rides perfect except for that one hiccup, and I've had it a week now.
It had been about 12 hours parked on 1/8 of a tank and that's the first time its been below a 1/4 in my possession. And about 25F if I recall correctly.
But no I haven't done anything, like I said only been mine for a week

A couple of weeks ago I started mine up in the garage (about -10C inside but -25C outside) and she drove fine for about a minute then some misfires and flashing CEL. CEL cleared itself within 10 seconds as I decided whether or not to turn around and when I scanned it for codes later there were none. Its been fine ever since. These cars do weird $hit.

Oh and when I cleared the codes, I currently have a bad bank 1 sensor 2 o2 out and it usually clears and goes back on within seconds, has stayed off for about 25 miles lol

Just took a quick peek under the hood and immediately noticed a vacuum line that is right on the back of the IM/ right next to the oil filter is missing a connector

my '04 ''ran out of gas'' on me last night, 1/8 left after coming home from a long trip. said I had 35 miles left til empty. was concerned that it wasn't low fuel related but sure enough had someone bring me a gallon of gas and it started right up and ran smooth to the gas station, filled it up and no issues. check engine light for misfires due to the crazy misses when it ran out. idk if my guage is inaccurate or if for some reason the pump cant reach the last gallon or two in the tank but I wouldn't rule out low fuel if you had that little gas.

i'll now be filling up at 1/4 at the latest.
