    windshield stress crack

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just notice this morning a nice crack from the bottom of windshield up about 2 to 3 inches.

No point of impact so it has to be stress. Just wondering if anyone had this issue (i have a 2014)

also what are my chances of Audi covering this under warrant or just go thru insurance or pay out of pocket.

any insight or pass experiences would be great

I know some states will pay for a replacement and you just go through your insurance, you don't pay a thing. That's how it is here in SC. :-D

I would be shocked if Audi covered this. Depending on your deductible it might not even be worth it going through your insurance. You should be able to get a 2 - 3 in crack filled.

I called AoA and was told we dont manufacture the windshield sorry

so looks like i'll go thru insurance. This is my 3rd dealing with AoA and they really dont seem to care about the consumer. I love the car but I hate the customer service

Make sure you get a genuine Audi and do some searching I recall the S4 had a different type with CCC logo or such that had much better noise reduction

Sekurit and Pilkington are the two companies that make windshields for Audi/VW. Safelite and most glass companies use this glass on windshield replacements. The only difference is the Audi logo will not be on them.

I've replaced four windscreens on my allroad in the last 2.5 years, so I've learned a thing or two.

If you glass shop uses either one, you will be in good shape.

Do make sure your glass shop has the specific adhesive. There is a specific type that Audi/VW and BMW use.

    Read this http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ld-replacement
    and this http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...631&viewfull=1

I wouldn't go for non OEM if you have a rain sensor and you like your eyes lol
Also make sure you get the acoustic windshield it makes a significant difference in noise in the cabin.
If your getting it done by insurance, get the best :)

I had mine replaced on my 2013. My deductible was $500 but if I paid out of pocket it was close to $800. I had to go to an indy shop approved by my insurance. They said I was free to go to the dealer but because their labor rate is higher than most shops I'd have to pay the difference. The indy shop ordered the windshield from Audi so I still got OEM.

Oh we don't have the glass in stock we have to order it. That will take another week.

If i didnt call in i wonder why they would have let me know...

Audi did not make a lot of the parts on your car. Alternator, spark plugs, etc., etc. I think they are covered under warranty. I would complain directly to your dealer and also call BS to AoA,

When it comes to a windshield, there are too many variables to cover under warranty, unless the glass has a visual defect that impaires your vision. Getting on Audi's case over this issue is wasted energy. Replace with the windshield and move on.

Agree - not worth the time nor effort to do so.

I'm well past trying to deal with AoA. They seems worthless anyway.

So the reason they did not do it is BC they do not have OEM glass in stock. Said insurance tells them standard but I said no so they are doing what I want I just have to wait
