Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the forum and I was hoping someone could help me out. I have a 2005 A4 1.8 T Quattro with the 6 speed manual and am experiencing a minor problem. The car was recently repaired from a minor accident(driver's side fender, front bumper and all associated parts, intercooler, and most of the parts that are housed within the driver's side of the front bumper). The car just came out of the shop the other day. I was accelerating at full throttle yesterday when something strange happened. At just over 100 mph, I heard a relatively loud popping sound. At the time, i thought the car had just kicked up a rock into itself as that's what it sounded like. However, after hearing that sound, there is a slight rattling or ticking sound coming from the driver's side fender at speeds of anywhere from 20 mph on. It is not loud, and upon rolling down the window to listen closer, I can no longer hear it. I suspect maybe a bolt was loose and flew out and now something is flapping in the wind, but i don't even know where to start looking. If anyone has any input or has experienced a similar issue and resolved it, your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you an have a great day fellow Audi fans!

Update: I forgot to mention that upon inspecting the car, I noticed a rubber piece sticking out of the front bumper. It was near the fog light. I think it's just a rubber shield and when I popped it back in, the problem was still there. The car does not drive any different, the only thing is the sound.

Why were you driving 100mph? Either way, get into the front of the car where all the work was done and start wiggling things around to see what's loose. There are about a billion things that could rattle on a car so it's nearly impossible to diagnose without more detail.

Yeah, I'll probably put it up on the lift this weekend. I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced something of the same nature and figured out what it was. I know there are a lot of parts in that area of the car, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something obvious that I could fix by simply popping it back into place by hand. Thank you for your input.

Maybe the fender liner popped out of place and is not flopping against the wheel?

Thanks for your advice guys. The sound seems to have dissappeared so for now, I'm going to leave it alone. I will still probably take a look though.

Im pretty sure you could have just had some panel come loose and it started flapping around when you're at speed.

Yea, that's what I think happened. I heard something (sounded like a bolt) hitting the underside of the car after the pop. So my conclusion is that a bolt was not properly tightened and flew out of the fender shield. That's what I thought initially, but I wanted confirmation. Anyway, I'll probably put another bolt in and see if that fixes it. Thanks guys.
