    Aftermarket Rotors for S6/S7

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm at about 20k milage wise on the S7 and brakes are starting to squeal up front. Dealer says pads, rotors, sensors and repair kit (whatever that is) needs to be changed, which will run anywhere from $1700-2k. Seems a tad soon to replace rotors that early, so I would only imagine the rotors are on the softer side.

I haven't seen any aftermarket rotors, besides Adam's Rotors, but has anyone tried them on a S6/S7? Do they last longer than the stock rotors? I would rather just spend more on rotors upfront that would last longer than the stock ones.

Do not buy Adams rotors. He buys the cheapest blanks (which are fine btw) and he then drills then drills them which weakens the metal in the rotor. Oh and he up charges the crap out of them

For that price ($1700-$2000), you could get yourself a good set of two-piece rotors and pads, which would lighten each corner. Happy driving experience just became happier

Anyone weigh the stock rotors? They already have an aluminum hat so I wonder how they would compare to an aftermarket 2 piece setup.

Yeah that would be nice, do you know who makes two-piece rotors for the S7?

I have always had luck with ECS Tuning.

Pick up the rotors and pads here and take them to an Indy shop and save a bunch of money.

If you follow RedRocker55's advice and go with OEM, you can always go to http://www.genuineaudiparts.com and type in the part #. They sometimes have parts cheaper than ECS. I think the site is down for maintenance right now though, but I've used them countless times and have never had problems with their service.

If not, you can always go with Brembo or Stoptech blanks. I don't know of anything that proves they'll last longer than stock, though.

A lot of times the dealer will "say" you need new rotors when you really don't. I find that a bit doubtful at 20,000 miles, personally, but it's possible.

Source the parts yourself and take them to an indy.

Audi says that you can't turn the rotors on these cars and that the pads and rotors should be replaced together.

FWIW, I'm at 27k, and I just got the same story from my dealer after I brought it in for excessive brake squeal in the cold. They say my pads are down to 6mm, and there's some mild grooving in the rotors.

I was planning on just going OEM; there are a few dealers on Ebay selling the fronts for ~$275/ea, but the ECS rotors look intriguing.

Anyone tried these? Know anything about them?

According to ECS' site, they are the OEM rotors.

Don't believe what a dealer tells you. They are in the business of robbing people and not having and concern for good business practice.

Check with your local Indy shop if you are not sure by inspecting the brakes yourself.

Im at 27K with about 70/30 mild - wild driving and no squeal. Good friends with service advisor and says brakes are fine. There could be other factors that affect rotor life but take it for what its worth.

FWIW I came across my bill from an independent shop doing front and rear brakes on my S4 with rotors and pads provided by me. $280 in labor. I'm thinking $1200 or so F&R for the S6.
