For those of you with powder coated intake manifolds....

I've taken my valve covers off and separated the upper intake manifold from the lower, to have them coated. The company is separating the upper in two. What have you all used to properly seal the two halves together correctly?

Remove old gasket and apply RTV sealant seems to be the course of action.

Just to clarify, I do mean once the top is already off of the bottom. They have asked that the top half be separated again. I wasn't aware that this was necessary but I wanted to make sure before I said yes or no.

It shouldn't need to, and can it even really without being damaged?

So the guy was just being overly cautious and the screws were in fact the casting screws left by Audi.

But here's the finished product; minus the MAF hose for anyone wanting to point that out.

Looks really good! My car is the same color as your's and I recently chose to have my manifold coated a similar color.

    Thanks guys.. I love it

While the intake is off you may want to change any sensor behind the engine that would give you trouble.. I did the coolant temp sensor and it was a pain even with the intake off.
