034Motorsport is proud to offer our Billet Aluminum Transmission Mount Insert for the C7 Audi A6/S6/RS6 & A7/S7/RS7! The factory Audi transmission mount has a large void in the rubber damping medium, which results in in excessive transmission movement under load. This movement results in drivetrain slop than can be observed when accelerating, decelerating, and shifting.

This billet aluminum insert is designed to fill the large void in the factory transmission mount, and limit transmission movement without sacrificing ride quality or introducing any additional noise, vibration, or harshness into the cabin. By filling the void in the factory mount, this insert eliminates the associated slop and ensures that you're experiencing crisper shifts and a smoother driving experience.

This mount was thoroughly tested by 034Motorsport and independent Audi enthusiasts before release. Installation is very simple, can be performed in minutes, and is completely reversible. This upgrade is compatible with vehicles equipped with DSG (S-Tronic) and Tiptronic transmissions, providing improved shifting and increased performance. It will fit the CVT as well, but the benefits won't be as significant due to the nature of the CVT gearbox. You'll still see improvements during throttle transitions and under acceleration & deceleration.

The transmission itself doesn't flex, but the transmission and motor mount design allow for quite a bit of movement during shifts and under changing loads. We're done a lot of testing on the C7, and the benefits from reducing the slop are quite noticeable. The results are very similar to what we encountered when developing our B8 Audi Trans Mount Insert, which you can read (many) reviews for in this thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...8-Audi-S4!-***

We tested a number of different designs, including one with the whole void filled:



There is a significant amount of NVH added with the whole void filled, as the rubber damping medium on the corners is very thin. The performance benefits of filling the entire void versus just to the protruding rubber damping material were minimal, especially when the added noise and harshness was taken into consideration. Hope that helps answer the question!

No offense intended, would like to know.

The factory mount design is the same for all of the engines/transmissions, and the void is intended to prevent NVH from the drivetrain from entering the cabin. The mounts are not designed to limit stress on the transmission. That is controlled almost entirely by the DSG/TCU and ECU calibrations.

Filling the void and limiting the up/down movement of the mount limits slop and improves shifting feel without introducing anything noticeable back into the cabin. The mount still functions very well to prevent NVH transfer, as the rubber is still able to do its job.

This upgrade won't add any significant stress to the mount itself, but limits the amount of play in the mount before it starts acting to limit transmission movement. The rubber damping medium in the transmission mount still allows for some movement, and this is very far from solid-mounting or anything of that sort.

What torx socket is equivalent to the triple square 10.....T50?

For example - you can use the T 55 instead of the triple square 12 to remove the steering wheel bolt.

Most triple square tools have to be ordered and are hard to find locally.

Hope you're ready to strip something out. The Torx bit or the triple square bolt one. There is a reason that there are twelve points instead of six.

The T55 worked perfectly fine in place of the Triple Square 12 on my steering wheels. (Self installed) If the 6 points fits snug in the groves it will be fine ... So we will see.

actually it just depends on how sharp/machined they are. If they're weak and give - a la too much torque in 6 vs 12 grooves, then SOL, but otherwise, a good tool milled out of dense Aluminium or Ti should be fine.

IT shocks me that you have close to $100,000 into your car, but you will skimp on a $25.00 set of the correct tools for said vehicle. I have never found a large size Torx bolt anywhere on my S6, but they use the triple box extensively, why not drop the $25 and have the right tool for the job?
