    New Daily, 2008 B7 S-Line Sedan

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I finally decided it was time to pick up a nice newer daily driver since my old haggard R50 Mini is getting quite tired, so I picked up this in December.

I have a few other toys that are currently sucking my wallet dry at the moment, so only routine maintenence will be on the schedule for now. I'm looking into replacing the cam follower, DV, and a PCV block off plate. Within the year I will most likely be picking up a RS7 front bumper and trying to figure out what I want to run for a summer wheel setup.

I love the car so far, best investment I've made to date!

    Obligatory "my other toys" section:

    Thank you!

Although I just read through another thread where I realized this is just a regular 2008, not an actual S-Line. I still got it for a great deal either way so I'm not bothered by it. It's still a daily after all haha

Yeah, it's a common misconception and honestly the exterior of the S-line is the most valued part. You don't see people doing full S-line swaps just bumper swaps. Car looks good!

Great find. Especially with the OEM Bi-Xenons, very popular retro fit and very expensive to do if you don't have it from the factory

Corrado! I really miss mine even if I spent more time fixing it than driving it lol. Nice pick up on the b7 as well.

Unfortunately it's a 6AT with paddles, it's my first automatic car since my very brief encounter with a G60 Corrado. I figured that was okay considering it's a daily and my main focus will be on the B5.

The bi-xenons are amazing, I see why people swap to them so often. That didn't even cross my mind while searching but I'm glad this car came equipped with them already!

I've always had a soft spot for Corrados, so there will always be one in my stable from this point forward. This one has higher mileage, but it's mostly stock, from down south and it has been well taken care of. My plan is to restore it, and I've been collecting 1992 catalogs, advertisements and magazine article clippings to make a full display for the trunk when I take it to shows. I'd like to find another one to build at some point, but this one will be more of a stock tI'm capsule piece since I have the B5 as a toy car.

I keep thinking back to about 4 years ago when I only had the Mini and wanted a project so badly, now I realize why people don't have this many at once. It's real painful on the wallet haha

I hope to pick up another one someday for more of a show car purpose as well. Mine was a g60 that got totaled by a lady that t-boned me.

    Thanks guys!

I noticed the other day that I have no sound from my rear door speakers and sub. I ordered the radio removal tools to check the connections there, and I will check the fuse as well. Just not exactly sure which one runs those, hopefully the manual will say.

Outside of those things, any input on what the cause may be?

On another note I was in sport mode (same day actually) and I got a p0299 code over 5k RPMs. So I will be ordering the GFB DV insert to take care of that issue.

Today I ordered the ECS cam follower kit and a valve cover gasket. I'm not sure if the follower has been replaced and it is not making noise yet, but I would rather play it safe.

Also since I am running a stock tune and will continue to, I'm wondering if the GFB insert will be worth the extra money over a new factory replacement updated design DV.

    Thoughts?

Nope just get a rev D divertor. It holds up just fine and causes no issues.

So I got around to doing the valve cover gasket:

    And the cam follower.....

Just about puked when I pulled out the follower and saw how bad it was. I can't believe I let myself drive the car with it this bad. Good news is there was no damage yet, there was some light scoring on the cam but nothing major. I'm going to pull it back apart in a few thousand miles and see how the new one is holding up.

    So that was my day.

Is that a giant hole in the follower!? Ouch... FYI, the metal that used to be in your follower is now in your engine somewhere. Sucks that you're a 2008 and can't get audi to cover it under the extended warranty. :(

It is =( it wore through nearly the full cap. I looked over the whole top end when I did the valve cover gasket and didn't see any damage, but that doesn't say anything about the bottom end. I'm hoping it's not too bad.

I just hope the fragments have settled in the pan by now, I'm going to put a magnetic drain plug in and hope I can catch some of it. I'm not sure how many miles this one has on it, but I really wish I had just done it as soon as I bought the car.

I am just outside of Bangor ME Gotpsi
