Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am thinking about ordering a k04 turbo kit. I have a giac chip, k&n intake, and spm downpipe.
Do I need to retune my car If i install the turbo kit?
    thanks

If my GF got breast implants, would she need a bigger bra?

    Enjoy your bigger boobs!
    Best regards,
    Sean.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone
bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

You really need to learn how to search for threads. Every thread you've started can be found from searching. But yes you need to upgrade the tune. But how about you get some supporting mods before you even think about going K04. Also, waiting for the new which k04 kit is best thread.

hahaha! Good Lord OP! You could even try Google before creating a thread. Using a Google search would most likely yield Audizine threads on this topic

I thought this had to be a troll just to wake up the forum but then looked at the OPs other recent post. OP (trey), I only started modding my A4 in the last 12 months and find most of my answers, along with amusing reading, by searching in Google for what I am trying to find out then clicking the "more results from Audizine" link. Or, if you are wondering if you want to get an upgraded FMIC, you can type "b8 a4 intercooler site:www.audizine.com" into the Google search box and see all of hundreds of Audizine conversations. Warning though, this leads you on a sort of goose chase of upgrade fantasies and options that can possibly interfere with work time.

    "b8 a4 k04 tune GIAC site:www.audizine.com"

Or, contact GIAC on their webpage. I have found them to be very responsive and helpful.

    Re-tune for car?

Thanks. This kid just doesn't understand cars, so hopefully, I put it in terms that he does understand!

There is really no reason to tell people to to search. Now, when he does search, he will find a bunch of useless threads of telling other people to search. If everyone just gave him an answer like I did, we would have a bunch of useful threads

just purchase the APR KO4 kit for your car. It's by far the best KO4 kit out there. It's pretty damn proven. If you purchase a KO4 through an APR dealer you get the flash with it.

People with APR KO4 absolutely love it

For K04 you can have your choice of APR, Unitronics or if you are so inclined use Maestro and have a custom tune. Actual turbo, you can purchase APR, CTS turbo, and there might be one or two more.

I have a B8.5, It had GIAC with K04, No Bueno. My life sucks though since there is no K04 tune (besides Unitronic) for the B8.5 and so I don't have the option to get a K04 tune. If I did, I would buy it immediately, which is what you should do, and probably get the APR one. Since you have a B8 and since they just released a bunch of B8 K04 Tunes, get the right tune, otherwise you're leaving a lot of high end torque on the table.

Maestro comes with a solid K04 tune, it does not need to be custom. I ran their base k04 tune and it was awesome.

Also, it depends on your plans for the car. i got maestro because the suite allows you to flash you own files and you have access to all their base files. Very similar to cobb or other tuners not available to us. Meaning, stage 2 to K04 to BT custom file is all included. APR and all the other shops will be charging you for each step up. APR stage to to K04 is $700.

Budget also, frankenturbo + maestro will run $2300 vs $3500 for APR's kit. Theres $1200 for exhaust and coilovers bud.

This is seriously a great response to getting razzed early on in the thread. I've seen some folks go right on the defensive and resort to name calling -- kudos to you!

You'll find a lot of great advice from the folks here.

Me, I'm a bit partial to the APR K04 tune. The new V3.0 file is incredible: great throttle response, power comes on quickly, and smooth power band.

After everyone telling you to search... you proceed to ask this?

    How dense are you?

Sounds like you need to do some research on your car in general. IMO, if you plan on doing all these mods you should learn more about the terminology, how it works... then come back to the forum to ask questions. Do you know nothing about the B8 A4?

the best turbo for the price would be the stock turbo in the car, since it's free :)

ok buddy you can start by getting the mods one by one by going stage 1 then stage 2 and then stage 2+ then you need to see if you want more power then go for k04. just start by basic modding and work your way up. B8's are amazing machines if you understand and learn them.

    The stock turbo.

Your car is already tuned. That was the best performance per dollar you'll get. If you buy a turbo kit, K04 or other, you're looking at throwing thousands of dollars at the car in hardware/software/miscellaneous all so it can be marginally faster.
