    S6 + Blizzaks = Snowmobile!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I must say, I am VERY impressed with how well my S6 with Blizzaks handles in the snow. It is so sure footed that I am able to drive pretty much anywhere with the traction control off. The car is very predictable and handles amazing. Getting dedicated snows was probably the best upgrade I could have done. I am now finding excuses to run out to get something just so I can drive in the snow!

    Just awesome.

Blizzaks are great. Ive burned thru a few sets. The thing about driving in the snow is stay off the brakes as much as possible and use throttle to point the car where it needs to go.

I ran 20s. They're great in snow but they're not very good in dry/wet weather. They are a very very soft compound so in the dry/wet the car shimmies around a bit. I moved over to Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds instead.

I run the Audi OE winter 19" setup. A bit more expensive than aftermarket but it's fine by me. I'm sure I will have to change to a different brand/model tire when these wear out as I doubt I will be able to find them even though I do like them so far this winter.

I have had good luck with Dunlop Wintersports in the past. Usually managing 30-35k miles out of them on mostly plowed roads before getting to the recommended replacement depth for snow tires of 4/32"

I am running 19s for my winter setup - 255/40 LM-32 XL with no issues at all in any conditions. I have only had them on for about 2K miles so far, but I am very happy with performance as well as noise.

guys, setting aside the looks, please advise, are the 18" x 8.5" wheels with a +35 offset too small to clear S6 brakes?
    Thanks!

The offsets are different but I'm running A7 wheels with Nokian tires on my S6 for the winter.

I went down to 18 " with blizzaks for more tire. Great choice. Love having dedicated snows much more comfortable than using my summer
    20" sport tires!

Have that exact setup and you just destroy the snow in these. One of the best if not the best snow/ice tire in the world, then add Quattro into the mix and your ready to hit the snow covered road course.
You will be running circles around all SUVs and just looking for excuses to go out when the snow gets over 6inches on the roads.

I purposely stayed at work late to get more snow on roads and less idiots during last snow......

BTW - Noticed Kiku lowered his price to $3500, that a steal considering those tires have never seen the road.

That's a nice picture and everything, but a sorry excuse for "snow". I would think with snow tires and Quattro that would be no different than driving on dry pavement.

This is what I've been dealing with the last two weeks, we had 7.5ft. of snowfall in February.

    More pics.

Didn't miss a day of work.

Got LM-32 255/40-19" on replica wheels for this years Michigan winter and clocked 5k miles. I dont see any wear what so ever and yes they are super awesome. I dont think a studded winter tire is necessary unless if the roads are covered with sheet of ice.
Combined with Quattro you get loads of grip and confidence anywhere you go. I drove in 2ft snow and also on ice(bit carefully) and never lost a tiny bit of control. Its always fun to see when starting from dead stop where other cars keep spinning and you quickly pickup to unbelievable speeds. Its my first MI snowy winter and I never knew that it would be soo fun to drive the beast.

Also running the 3D's - they're the Audi recommended for 20" wheels.

S7 has a 9" wheel right? You could put a 255 on that...

I thought the smallest we could run is 19", but I'm not positive.
