Has anyone completely removed their EGR and left it off?. if so how does the car feel compared to when it was on? is it worth doing? is it worth doing along side a remap? is it worth removing, cleaning and re fitting?

    Thanks

AFAIK, the only EGR on our engines is accomplished via valve overlap. It can in theory be coded out, but i'm not sure what it would accomplish.

Edit: Just saw that your B7 is a TDI. Ignore what I said.

I know in older diesel engines EGR's were removed which noticeably made them run better and better response like my Disco2, but in modern engines im not too sure if it makes a difference or maybe makes them worse after all they are there for a reason.

Theoretically diesels can run more boost with egr. It keeps the exhaust gas temp down if it is working correctly.

Like stated above EGR has more that one purpose: lowers intake temps, lowers emissions, raises MPGs.
I would go for a good clean. I also saw a lot of people do DPF Off and remove it. Should make for a faster turbo spool.

How does the engine run? It was my first choice, ended up with the 2.0 TFSI though.
