I don't have time to research this before I go to sleep to get up for work. I was leaving work and my car died in the middle of the road. Giving it gas I got it to fire back up. (Tried without giving it gas first) I'm thinking fuel pump? Possibly a switch on the pedal? Any other ideas? 2004 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro. 155k miles.

Possible maf sensor, or suction jet pump. Had both go at separate times and those were the main symptoms

Unplug MAF and see if it's drivable. SJP can be glued together or zip tied in a bind.

If its the section jet pump you could still be able to drive it unless its blown way open. It will run like junk though. Will it not start back up or was it just a one time deal? Could have gotten something wet and shorted out. Then just needed to be restarted. Are there any codes or check engine lights?

With out any specific information we're really just speculating here.

It started fine, started to drive and when I shifted to second, it immediately wanted to die. Shifted back to first to try and keep it from dieing but to no avail. It died right in the middle of the road infront of my work.
Tried starting it several times but nothing. Finally in a last ditch effort I gave it some gas while trying to start it. It started, but very reluctantly. It had no power at all, I had troubles getting up to even 10mph. It felt like it was going to die out again so I pulled into the parking lot at work at the other end of the building (My work is huge, it's about 0.5 miles from one end to the other, from parking lot to parking lot.) I sat there with the clutch in, feathering the gas to try and keep it from dieing. After about 3-5minutes it started to feel more stable, so I gave it one last effort to get home. (My house is about 3miles away) At first it started to feel normal again, but at each stop light it felt more like it wanted to die again. I had to feather the gas at the last few stop lights to keep it from dieing, the car should violently if I didn't try to keep the RPM's up. Even giving it gas, it the RPM's where all over the place like it wasn't getting propper fuel.

This is what I just purchased. Should have everything within the next week.

Do you have a boost gauge installed? Definitely check your suction jet pump, when they decide to go your car run will run terribly.

If you have a boost gauge you should notice you're not pulling as much vacuum as normal.

Deleted with the vacuum simplification. Cars ran fine for the past 18+months since I did that mod.

Probably a leak some where then. If its big enough it can really cause your vehicle to run horrible. Chances are it would be accompanied by a check engine light. Any codes or anything??
