    Black out the chrome trim?

What's the best way to black out the chrome trim? I just got an A5 and it's black, so the chrome trim around the windows really stands out.

I actually like it standing out but if you cant deal with it, get it vinyl wrapped, most people do this.

To buy the black optics kit, its something around $1300. Vinyl will cost you around $200

Go with vinyl and I recommend getting it down by a professional. It will be about $150-$200 and should last a long time. I had used plasti-dip as a temporary measure to see how it would look. It actually lasted about 2 years, but didn't have the texture I was looking for. A bit of a pain in the ass to get off too, but it did make me realize how much I like the look with the black trim.

I also have a black car and the chrome trim really bothered me (especially after I got my car tinted). I just got mine, along with the fog lights vinyl wrapped this weekend. $190 for the trim and $20 for the lights. Looks so much better now

I wonder if the tint places do it? I got my windows tinted too and the chrome really sticks out with tinted windows.

Did it myself......really easy and actually fun project. Vinyl cost about $40 if that.

...as long as it doesn't have to do w/ emissions

OP, check out Don Nguyen for vinyl wrapping. I don't have first hand experience, but he's based out of Irvine and looks to do good work. Fairly popular on the BMW and MB forums...

Wrapping it as the way to go. I plasti dipped the chrome trim on the hardtop I got for my old m3, came out great, but eventually started to peel. So yea spend some extra money and get it wrapped.

Vinyl wrap it... Just got mine done about a month ago and it looks so much better. Ended up plasti-dipping my grille and fog lights too. Had everything done at rhino custom detailing in Huntington Beach. Check them out on yelp, they do great work and pricing is right.
