    Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone could share any experiences, give any tips or recommend any shipping companies?

Moving to Los Angeles soon, and prefer not to drive if I don't have to.

Thanks ! Any help is much appreciated .

It's stressful so be prepared. My experience wasn't fun.

I went with all day auto transportation they're a broker but they had the best price ~ $988 from LA to CT

There was delays, failed pickup times and I was told that it would be door to door shipping, but I got a call last minute from the actual driver, the day before saying they couldn't deliver to my house. I had to argue forever with the company the broker hired to get them to go to a warehouse down the street from me. It ended up working out, but it was extremely stressful.

My price was in an open carrier, enclosed will easily cost a couple hundred more. Best advice is to call around and get quotes from at least 5-6 carriers. Do your research on every single transporter you find, look up the better business bureau rating, and any kind of review you can.

Make sure your insurance is up and covers. I have heard horror stories where everyone points the finger at someone else when it comes time to pay. Im sure it'll be fine and a non event, but it wouldnt hurt to make a call or two on the insurance.
BTW--congrats on the out west move---the West is the best. Surf, snow, desert......all within an hr or so of LA.

Time for a road trip! If not, your best bet is to drive it part of the way and ship it the rest of the way.

I would just drive it unless you are really time constrained or have too many cars.

I'd suggest contacting Reliable Carriers or JP Logistics. They aren't the cheapest but they are top notch.

I've made the cross country trek three times now, it's not that bad. You just won't want to drive for a week afterwords. Although I do it as non stop as possible, with switching drivers I was able to do it in two days, three by myself.

I shipped my car from FL to PA on an open trailer. I tried to pick the cheapest open carrier but best review. I had several fail attempts to pick up due to the "builder" not bring ready and shipper not communicating. I ended up picking up my car and trailering it to a buddies house.

Do not sign any papers upon delivery without looking over the car. Inside and out. I missed damage on my fmic, though it still works, that was caused by the shipping company. I signed off after a quick glance.

I shipped NY to LA in an enclosed trailer for ~$1200. Relatively simple process. I think an RS5/S5 of some sort may have dripped a little oil on it but besides that no complaints. I'd probably just go open container if I had to do it all over.

F it, resigned from work, and they made me leave 4 days early so I'm driving!

No need for the stress, just got new tires too.
