Midas charging $370 to do the Xpipe install. What do you guys usually get this done for?

Who has had this done in CT and where?

That's a bit too much. I got my x-pipe installed plus muffler deletes for around $350. It should be less than $150 to cut factory resonator out and tid weld x-pipe in.

Here in Spokane, there is a place called Dave's Muffler...he will do the cutting and welding for like $5 and a 12-pack. He's actually quite good too, welds are super-nice he just charges very little if he likes you.

Got a quote of 200-300. Does anyone know of a shop or has gotten this done at a shop in CT/NY?

These are prestamped x-pipes you guys are talking right? As in Magnaflow-esque being welded on to a stock exhaust? Cause for a custom raw materials x-pipe from scratch for my APR exhaust it would be almost double that amount. I can see the prior being much less for the install.

Pop's (Manchester), Corsi (New Milford), and Excelerate (Brandford) can do it and they're trust worthy IMHO.

Just spoke with them, looks like it'll be a lot for just the xpipe. Going to keep looking. Really surprised no one got this done in CT on here.

The drone will get a little better after you put some miles, but the resonated xpipe is the one that supposedly doesn't drone bad.

Good to hear but how exactly does it get better? Or do you just get used to it. I drove a little today and it didn't bother me at all.

Hard to describe but has an r32ish sound. There are a lot of videos out there but I'll be the first to tell you they can't really capture the sound accurately. Also, the way mine was installed is differentthan other methods I've seen which can effect the way it sounds.

Wish I could give you a better physical argument, but this is more what I've experienced and general consensus I've heard here. Once you run it for a while it "breaks in", which I'm guessing means depositing soot in the grooves and slightly heat cycling pieces, possibly making the flow less obstructed?

But you're right, it could just be getting used to the drone.

despite florida being the collective arse of the nation, my xpipe install cost $180 including tax.
it didn't include the fancy silver paint but there's no drone neither with the manual.

most important thing though is if you like it, that's all that really matters. the only regret i have is not having this done sooner.

as for the sound, it reminds me of an e46 m3 with the marble rasp at WOT. compared to a r32, the r32 sounds better hands down.
even a 12 valve vr sounds better than this setup but for the price point its ok. its not deep, and its a little raspy at WOT. no downshift
burbling but there's an occasional 1-2, 2-3 shift pop, not exactly like a dsg fart. if you are looking for a deep and balanced tone, this mod isn't for you.
