    Should I clean the maf?

So I noticed a few times lately, at idle at a stoplight or something, the idle rpm's would go up maybe 100 rpm or so, slightly enough to feel, then hold there for about 2 seconds, then go back to complete rest for a minute or so. It does it sporadically. Could this mean a dirtyMAF or MAF on the fritz? Or related to something else? Car runs and drives fine with no engine related issues in the past.

Hmmm, what other signs should I be seeing though? It doesnt act funny in any other way. Would a vaccuum leak be much more sporadic? Would it affect anything at startup?

    Any codes?
What are your channel 32 measuring value block readings for the 01-engine electronics?

Some quick easy things that you can check for free are if the 5 mm allen bolts for the intake manifold are tight and if the MAF boot is on the throttle body is tight. Those two things tend to loosen causing issues.

I wish I had a cable, for the random things like this. Out of curiosity, what do those measurements indicate for the 01-electronics?

    Long term fuel trims.

They are a good indicator how the engine is running.

A place between here and there

Vacuum leak test and address those, if any. After that is done and things corrected if there was an issue in that area, log your MAF to see if values are in spec. If they are, then don't touch your MAF. If you log your MAF before any leaks are fixed (if any), your readings would be off regardless and would be a moot point. Bonus if it is a vacuum leak is you will increase your mpg.
I hate it when my car acts like a little bitch, treating me like a bitch
