    From 2009 3.2 to 2013 3.0t Few questions

Had the opportunity to switch from a 2009 3.2 premium to a 2013 3.0t Premium Plus
My current 2009 3.2 premium in silver has 46,146 miles on it. I got it in May of last year, not expecting to be an Audi owner. I came from a 2012 Ram 1500 4x4 and absolutely became a Q5 fan. Use it for everything I used the truck for except a hitch, and plant hauling. I only used the hitch for bikes and kayak, and have no issue using the roof rack for either.
I had the basic AMI symphony, I added the Emerald Intergrations Back Up Cam, and some interior LED lights. Been through a few oil changes, just put new front brakes and rotors on it, and had the carbon build up cleaned when i first got it. I was close to having it paid off, and it will be traded for the new one.

New ride will be a 2013 Premium Plus with 32, 300 miles on it. It will have the new MMI with nav and audi connect. It will have the 3.0T engine as well.
My questions are, any maintenance differences and costs I will see in the 3.0T as opposed to the 3.2? Any big performance differences between the 3.0T from the 3.2?
And does anyone feel Audi Connect is worth it, and any good way to get a deal on the service? Are thereany differences in the MMI with Nav as opposed to the old 2009 AMI. I know the new unit has 2x SD cards.

Thanks Im excited for the new ride

Hey, jdip. The 3.0T is a much stronger engine than the 3.2 from a performance perspective and has shown to be super reliable. Another nice thing to note is that, since it's an S4 engine that's been electronically de-tuned for the Q5, you're able to extract a LOT more power via an APR or GIAC tune (if that's something you're interested in). That will take it from 270hp to about 400hp without sacrificing reliability.

The MMI is updated in the 2013 compared to the 09. A [slightly] larger but much higher resolution display for one thing, as well as Google Maps integration. The Audi Connect is very cool with the 3D Google Earth. You get a better deal if you pay for a longer time frame in advance, as opposed to month-to-month.

Thanks for the advice. Good to know and I'll always take some more pony's under the hood. I was gonna ask when I pick the car up but who ends up billing for the connect. Is it Audi itself or whoever the provider is

In my experience the real star of the show is the 8-speed transmission. Don't get me wrong, the 3.0T is a wonderful engine, but in stock form the output specs are quite similar to the 3.2. Nonetheless, you'll be very pleased with the driving experience. You're almost always in a sweet spot, and the occasional herky-jerky 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts from the 3.2L/6-speed (at least in my experience) are happily missing. I didn't dislike my old Q with the 3.2L, but it often felt like the vehicle was just a bit too heavy. Not so with the new drivetrain. Terrific upgrade.

I've yet to experience anything different from a maintenance perspective. That might change as the miles rack up, but FWIW I haven't done anything different with my '13 than I did with the four-ringers that preceded it.

I found Audi Connect to be a waste. T-Mobile coverage in my area is spotty at best, and for how I use mobile technology, I couldn't begin to justify the monthly expense. At the speeds I see, functionality is next to useless, and even considering the wi-fi hotspot is laughable. Your mileage may certainly vary, but I'd highly recommend going with a short-term agreement first if you're considering it. I love the MMI experience as a whole, and the HD nav system is snappy and still current for my needs.

Kudos on the upgrade - good luck with everything.

That's a great point Vroom. I should have mentioned that.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I pick it up in the morning. As for connect I get great T-Mobile coverage. Can't really justify the hot spot use but I'd get decent use from all the other features. I look forward to the upgrade. By all means was very happy with my 2009 but having the opportunity to upgrade while I still got good trade value I didnt want to pass up
