    Re-using outer CV boot?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am replacing a torn inner CV boot on my Allroad front axle, and ended up having to remove the outer boot as well to install the inner boot. I ordered a new outer CV boot kit, but can the old outer boot be reused by just using new grease and clamps if the boot looks good? Or is the fact that the old outer boot is already out warrant a new kit as well while I am doing the inner boot?

You could reuse it, but why? It's already apart.

Sounds like replacing IT with a new kit is the most sensible thing to do. I ONLY removed it as it was suggested by a mechanic to get to the inner boot but now I see it coyld have been done other ways too.

The boots are so cheap that it would be in your best interest to replace them ANY time you have them apart.
