    Installed BungaJungle magnetic phone mount

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just installed this BungaJungle magnetic phone mount and its pretty neat. Flows well with the interior and holds the phone really well, vertically and horizontally.

This is the size of metal plate that attaches to the phone with 3m tape in contrast to a penny.

More info on the product here: http://www.bungajungle.com/

Im not affiliated with them in any way.

Pretty cool product, I am interested.

Although if I did it, I would install it on the passenger air control's side :D

Haha i was thinking about doing it on passenger side as well, but i wanted it to be within easier reach. I might relocate it if it becomes a hassle with air controls, but i doubt it will be.

Wonder how hard it would be to mod this to have a Qi wireless charger behind it to charge and hold without any connections at all...

    Good find!

First problem I see is that your car is in Auto mode...you need to set that to Individual on start-up!! 8-)

Very clean, I didn't want to stick anything to my dash so I went with koomus magnetos, they just utilize the CD disk tray, same concept though.

Magnets are bad for phones/batteries. I just bought the Koomus CD clip on one.

I've got an HTC M8, its not listed but I'm sure I can get it to work with an aftermarket Qi Receiver.

I work in a highly magnetized environment, in the last 7 years my phones have all died natural deaths after many months or years of use (Drops, etc).

The piece that attaches to the phone has the backside coated with something that doesnt let magnetism thru. I even tested it myself :D

Get a pro clip mount while you are at it. I positioned a vent version over the center vent adjustment wheels and they are still accessible if you do not have sausage fingers.

Not to bash the OP and his new mount, but Steelie beat these guys to the game. I don't have pics of my setup, but check it out on Amazon (where the kit is dirt cheap, BTW):

    http://www.amazon.com/Nite-Ize-STCK-...ywords=steelie

The biggest difference that I see between the one mentioned in the original post and the Steelie is that the Steelie car mount is a sphere, so you can angle your phone left or right, up or down and it will stay where you place it, as opposed to what looks like only a flat mount on the Bungajungle. I've had one now for a few years (it originally was on Kickstarter) and have had no issues at all. I have the mount on the passenger side, exact opposite of the OP's mount. I swivel it to face towards me while I drive, usually running Waze. I have an iPhone 6, which works great, but with my wife's iPhone 6+ it tends to sag on the mount. It would work better on the 6+ if the magnet on the phone was placed higher than center, but that's where she wants it :)

I'd love something to mount an iPad air. Could I just use two?

Well the original idea to get this mount came from the steelie. However, my friend had one and i just didnt like how thick the round plate was that attached to the phone. He also claimed that the magnet that attaches to the phone had demagnetized some of his credit cards. I dont know if thats true or not but didnt feel like risking it. Main concern was the thick attachment to the phone, which i did not like.

The angle is perfect for me with current setup, i think ill just have to re-position the attachment on the phone so it would sit a bit higher.

If i were to get a new phoen mount i would go with this:

That it is. Either way, having the magnet on the back of your phone is very handy.

    Comparison between steelie and core360:

I agree with your points, they definitely are valid. I did demagnetize one of my cards in the past, I placed my card it in my jacket pocket with my phone while pumping gas. But after that happening, I just place my wallet on the other side of my phone when I have them together.

And yes, the magnet on the back of my phone is thicker than either of the other two solutions. I do like the thinness of the Core 360, but I like having the magnet on the back of my phone more. I use that all of the time, especially at the gym. I'm on call frequently, and place my phone on a rack or metal wall where I can see if someone is trying to call.

I do like the base of the Core 360, I think that would work better than the Steelie for larger devices, such as the iPhone 6+ or even an iPad. As I stated earlier, my wife's 6+ will slide down on the mount as she's driving. This looks like the adjustable base angle will stay where you place it, very nice!

Finally, the guy in the comparison video made me laugh! Knocking on the weight of the Steelie base (who cares, it's stuck on your dash?), and saying that Nite Ize isn't doing well because the price of the Steelie is less than the 360. Nite Ize bought the Steelie from the original maker and dropped the price immediately. I don't think they're going anywhere, they've been around forever. Plus they have great customer service. I've emailed them twice for more adhesive backings, which they always send for free.

I don't think that you can go wrong with any of these, they're great mounts! If I didn't like the magnet on the back of my phone I'd go with the 360. But, the Steelie works great for me, and the price is nice too ;)

Thanks for the heads-up on this. Just installed mine yesterday. I've used a pro-clip mount before and those are great, but this is soooo easy and the minimalistic design doesn't take much space when the phone isn't attached. The part attached to the phone looks super exaggerated in this shot. At about a mm thick, it's not a nuisance.

Thanks for the heads up on the Core 360. Bought two - first one is in my truck and it's great! The next one goes in the S4.
