Replacing Driveline front CV, possibly looking for a good shop to do so?

    Hey guys,

So i want to believe my front drive-shaft CV is on the way out, no vibration so far, just bird chirping sounds from under the car when im engine breaking/decelerating.

I normally do things myself but never encountered a drive line issue, i always use jack stands and it doesn't sound fun without a lift.

I am looking for someone who is reliable and knows what they are doing who wants to possibly make some cash. Could be a shop or your garage(if so willing to help out will provide some beer and cash) but just wanting to maybe look into getting it done somewhere else given it would be a first time and im busy with school stuff. Looking for someone Around Tacoma Seattle area.

Any feedback would help thanks guys

I just replaced my d/s cv shaft by myself. It wasn't all that difficult with the right tools.

Axle replacement doesn't warrant a lift, but probably a job better done out of the rain. FYI if you are certain which CV is bad, you can get a kit for that joint alone and save some moolah. Aftermarket axles are pretty cheap too...but you get what you pay for sometimes.

I've had success with a remove and replace of outer CV without even unbolting the inner.

Special tools, depending on approach: Socket for axle bolt, CV Boot clamp pliers, triple square set, beefy torque wrench, and a massive f@*king breaker bar.

If you can't get the axle out by just turning the front wheel, you may also need to separate a control arm. This can be annoying.

    Good luck!

I see. That job can be even easier than the axle as long as there isn't much rust. I suspect maybe your center support bearing if those noises are coming from the center of the car.
