Need help on Clutch options for S5!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I will be installing a stage 3+ APR supercharger soon on my Audi S5. Just wondering if any of you guys in the know or have already installed one could recommend which is my best clutch option. Southbend has a stage 3 clutch out but didn't really want to spend 3200 on a clutch. Is there anything else out there that would be able to handle over 500 lbs of torque. Might be out of luck but any help I'd appreciate thanks

I think JHM and Eurocode have S5 clutch options as well.

JHM don't have anything for the 1740 at the moment, I don't believe their 5R clutch is released yet.

I have tried two Eurocode clutches, the twin plate which I took out as it was not streetable at all and their stage 3 which I didn't like either, it the end a massive waste of money.

I would personally look for other alternatives and ask JHM when they are going to release their 5R.

I've been asking for over a year, answer is 'soon'. Said would be looking for a clutch around May this year and said 'should be available by then'. I'll not hold my breath.

A guy over on A5OC has the Southbend on and is breaking in right now.

Its always a hard one, if you get it wrong it gets expensive.. And there are not as many S5's around running 1740 sort of power which require a specific clutch to hold the power.

I was on JHM's case for months and then gave up, personally if they are going to release soon, I would wait for it. I asked EVERYONE, sure they make a clutch but the ones that did said they were heavy on the foot and not OEM like as I wanted, I understand there is going to be a compromise but I didn't want something to be a pig on the street.

If you have any other questions please ask, the Eurocode stage 3 is still in there but is no good, I actually just sold the car (still talk to the new owner) and that was one of my breaking points, I was just over it! They were happy to take my money but blame the install on why the their clutches are rubbish, it's also not just me, others have experienced the exact same characteristics as I did.

JHM are also a pleasure to deal with, wish I could say the same as Eurocode.

I as nearly going to buy the Stage 4 JHM but they wouldn't sell it to me knowing I would be back, which I appreciate.

I have driven a Sachs equipped RS4 1740, and it was fine, last time I asked they didn't make anything suitable, maybe ask them again?
