    RS5 Winter Powerslides ???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My new RS5 arrives in a few weeks and living in the northeast I've become accustom to using my handbrake for winter cornering. Does this lame button on the RS5 instantly engage and disengage, can it be used like a traditional hand brake for power slides.....

Lol the parking brake button? if you're in motion and hold it down for 3 seconds it'll lock the brakes.

Anyway I think your overplanning, just turn the wheel and hammer the throttle

    Hi, Master Snow Hoonigan here.

I can't see why you'd use the E-Brake in the snow. It's pointless with AWD. Just stab the throttle. It would only make sense if you had a front-wheel drive vehicle.

But I wouldn't suggest locking the parking brake, in snow, in a brand new RS5.

I'm assuming this is your first Audi?

How the hell does someone like this afford an RS5? Makes me question where I went wrong in life. Oh yeah, now I remember. Too much weed, booze and video games in college...

Man, you guys are ruthless LOL. I understand that using a handbrake with a proper FWD vehicle makes more sense . Sometimes "depending on the situation" a quick little tug of the hand brake on an AWD car can give you a more controlled pitch , for sure gassing it works 99% of the time. WTF...I should've just simply asked if the button brake engages instantly.

Depending on the situation, for a quick little tug?? You drive with traction control off as well right?

The short answer from my memory is, yes, pulling on the parking brake lever while driving will immediately apply the brake, and letting go will immediately stop applying the brake. Standard emergency brake usage. No idea how well that would perform in the scenario described here, and immediate is relative with it being electronic and not manually controlled.
