Does this shield actually provide a substantial amount of protection? IMO, if I'm low enough to warrant this I probably need something a little more stout.

I think it might be time for me to invest in one of these. I cringe every time I knock something while going over a speed-bump.

I installed mine last week and it's worth every penny. I would say that the mounting points are very unforgiving and you may need to pry a little on the bumper to get the holes to line up.

Thanks for all the feed back! These really are a great option for those who are low or seeking more protection. They are hard mounted to the chassis by 3 bolts and then supported by some of the OE mounting locations in the bumper allowing for a great fit that is sturdy.

Awesome thanks! Think I'm gonna grab one of these.

I wish it covered further back. I find the area I scrape most is from the Alu Kreuz since the bolts hang down so low.

$224 is about the same price as replacing the OEM plastic piece. Nice price point! Which leads me to:

    http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S4-...ion/ES2100425/

Since you are already working with an aluminum fab company, how about a replacement for this under $200. I can buy a 2'x2' sheet of 3/8" 6061 for $85 locally and have thought about cutting and drilling to make a stronger brace myself but don't have the best tools for cutting aluminum safely.

(yeah, I know there is an option currently available for under $500)

Keeping something like that under $200 would be difficult unfortunately. Maybe for a DIY it could be possible but not a production piece that's well made and actually stronger than the original.

We do have hopes of offering something at a lower cost than the competitors in the future. I'm not certain of the final pricing but it should be more affordable.

Will this fit in concert with the OEM panel (further back) that covers the brace location (Alu Kreuz)?

Don't people use that other panel? It seems that more protection is better than less.

I looked at that picture before, but I wanted to confirm that there wasn't some strange edge or something that would cause a problem with fitment.

Neither of our cars actually came with that piece that I can recall. But after pulling up the part on our site and having a look at how it mounts it should be able to install under our our Aluminum belly pan.

OK, thanks. Maybe that panel is a Canadian thing.

I'll proceed with my order from one of your resellers north of the border and report back if there are any difficulties.

The rear panel appears to have been deleted from NA models in 2010 or 2011, probably as a cost cutting move.

I have a carpeted panel that covers the brace/Alu Kreuz on mine. I left it off because it's one more thing to keep taking off every time I have to get under the car to do something. That and the fact it's carpeted mean it's usually wet and gross.
