    1999 4.2 V8 swap into a 914 ?

    Hello.
I have a lot of questions for anyone about using a 1999 Audi 4.2 V8 and a 012 trans axle for a swap.
Is the motor any good ? Don't get mad its just a question for a guy that knows nothing about the motor.

I have a Subaru EJ20T-STI for the swap but keep wondering about other motors. The EG33 from Subaru has come up also. The LS motors and SBC but their very heavy.

What do I need to learn about the motor and transaxle ?

My swap will be into a 1972 914 clone of the 914 GT. Big wheels and flairs and stuff. Motor and transaxle will fit with some fab work. But I will need to do fab work with just about any motor other than Porsche. The Porsche 6 motor are getting very pricy ! But if I go Audi its still in the family !

So let me have it .
    And thanks !

I have had delusions of trying the same thing with a DeLorean.
    1993 Audi 90 Quattro 2.8 5MT - Sold with 245,000 miles on it.
2002 Audi A4 Avant Quattro 3.0 6MT - Retired commuter, Dog Car, Costco runner, Snowmobile.
2014 Audi S4 Quattro Sport Diff 6MT - Daily Driver. CR-15, Chipwerke, minor cosmetic mods. Eventually I'll get around to the audio build.

    Hi Randy,

People mistakenly assume the LS series of engines are the same as the SBC. They are not. They're also very light. But for me, I'd be considering a 5.0 from a 928 if you wanted to keep it super awesome. Just my $.02.

    Jon
