Looking for ways to take the "edge off" my custom 3.5" exhaust

Custom fabbed up a 3.5" exhaust with a borla XR-1 muffler around a footlong similar to the 034 unithttp://store.034motorsport.com/exhau...b5-s4-3-5.html

Bottom line, its loud as fuck. Looking to tame it down a lil bit.. My options:
1. Relocate the borla muffler to the end of the system by the bumper and toss in a vibrant muffler that is a few inches longer.( Thats alot of work + really expensive route)
2. Buy 2 resonators for the midpipe area, I found these

I am worried about ground clearance a lil bit( im about 24.5 in GTF and not going up lol) but the first link looks promising Those seem to be the best options for my setup (regarding price and fitment) I have approx 17in to work with in the midpipe section

Has anyone used these before? Youtube searches came back with nada.. I know the closer you put the resonators to the motor the better for killing sound/drone But in terms of length of the actual resonator does a couple inches make that much off a difference in killin noise and giving me that sexy tone?

Ill sell it for $800 picked up.. Its literally brand new maybe 200mi on it. Completely custom. It does sound very exotic. I was just looking for something a lil different from my old AWE twin 2 and I made this.

Meh going up hill with a load in low gear it has some drone.. Not enough to rattle your spare change but just enough to be over it.. Freeway at 85 there is a slight drone. While cruising its pretty mellow. WOT is when it comes alive!! Ill make a quick video of the clips I have

Its a modified visor clip that comes with the Valentine 1. I love it right there, so stealth and its not permanent..

I am on the same page, and know the daily cost of having an exhaust that sounds like that. Straight piped 4" with a small resonator and muffler, and am looking to add a resonator in the middle.

Add a second muffler. So one in the middle and one out back by the bumper should give you
the sound your looking for. Even 034 offers one or dual muffler 3.5" catbacks. IDK about you
but my 034 3.5" with a single muffler sounded great and was only loud on WOT.

No unfortunately the cars been dismantled for over a year and the exhaust sold in 2013.

I was having the same issue. I have 3' DP's w/ race cats mated to a 2.5' true dual custom dual magnaflow mufflers. At first I had their true-x muffler on the front and the standard muffler on the rear. I recently changed the rear muffler with a true-x muffler. It really quieted things down and more importantly can be tolerated by the GF.

I'm not sure I have it where I want it...I was thinking about installing a larger front muffler or going to a 3' exhaust. Really interested in what you find, please post a video with what you decide.

thanks :) My S4 isnt even my daily. Its my garage queen/track day/weekend canyon carver/ date night rider.. But I do take the car on road trips and I dunno if I could get used to it.. Its much louder then my twin 2 of obvious reasons..

thats the route I originally wanted to go. However, there are no 3.5inlet to dual 3.5in outlet. I could fab up tips but the angle is pretty gnarly to fit the 12in muffler and 3in tips..

Exhaust is a trial and error type of deal and at this point Id be willing to sell this exhaust practically new to someone that will enjoy it

not enough room up front for the reso's IMO. you seem to be on the right track though, replace the system (someone will love it) and you can tone it down. the 3.5" dia makes things difficult in back as far as mufflers that will fit while actually doing something.

3"mids to 3.5", little vibrant and a cute reso out back.
in car its loud, but its really only bad at WOT and from 0-35mph around town
