    Polling S4 Owners: W205 c63/c63S AMG

Who here is seriously considering buying the new W205 c63 or c63s? I'm in a huge dilemma and I want to see what people think.

There's more to german engineering than 0-60mph or 1/4mi times, I know, but I can't help but think that with Stage 2 the straight line performance of the S4 against the c63 is neck-in-neck, at least at (or around ) street legal speed limits. Add to that the myriad suspension options we have available, e.g. sway bars and x-brace, and the handling of the S4 isn't too shabby either.

I compare the C63 to an axe murderer. I wouldn't want to drive one in the snow. S4 has quattro.

Drove a w204 for 2 years in Texas. Then moved to CO. C63 had to go.

If you live somewhere where it snows, the c63 is a non starter as a single vehicle unless you aren't worried about wrecking it.

HOWEVER, if you don't have to deal with ice/snow, or if it's a summer car only, I'd go back to it in a heartbeat. You are fooling yourself to think you can modify an s4 to feel anything like the monstrosity that is the c63. The torque and power available at any speed is totally intoxicating. They just leap forward when you hit the gas.

As a RWD car, they spin wheels with barely a thought though and cornering is not nearly as fun as in an s4 (unless you like drifting, and there is something to it to be sure).

In the end, it comes down to what you are after. S4 is a far more practical car that is very fun to rip around corners. C63 is an impractical one that will give you goose bumps every time you hammer the throttle, but potentially throw you into a 360 if you try it on wet pavement, on snow or ice you're asking for trouble.

In the end, you can't go wrong with either, but they are very different beasts. Let us know what you decide!

I was considering a C63AMG before I got the S4, the fact it rains here pretty much every other day swayed me towards the AWD.

I'm definitely enticed by the C63 AMGS. Just don't know how I could swing it in the winters. Just wish Audi would bring an RS4 to the states, with a new engine. (Twin Turbo V6 or V8). That'd be my baby. But I really do like the C63.

    +1 Very well said

I'd only add that it you are also losing space with the C63. It's more realistic to compare it to a S5. Not much room in the back seat.

A stage 2 s4 is significantly faster than the rs4. That's your solution

Well I am completely obsessed with it but I'm still in the S4. Lease rates on the M3 are completely absurd lately which is making my decision much harder.

I think it might be worth waiting a few more months for first hand reviews, possible RS4 announcement, and to see how the c coupe is going to shape up.

It's definitely something I'm interested in. I originally wanted a c63 but was living in the Midwest so I got the Audi. I've subsequently become obsessed with Audi so an RS4 would be the benchmark for me.

I would love to see one at a dealership, hopefully they'll start rolling in in the next couple months.

I am not sure that comparison is appropriate.

S4 competes with C400 4MATIC - they're in the same price range, both AWD. And there was a video review of C400 on youtube and basically while it's very fast and refined car S4 is probably faster.

Now if we're talking c63 or c63S from the price range standpoint we're entering into RS, M3/M4 territory, and while is't not the same class I'd say S6 is in the same price range. I just configured AMG a few days ago on mbusa and I can honestly say, if I had to choose now - I'd go S6 in that case since they're closer in price.

Phenominal car... but no MT and no AWD. My S4 fits my lifestyle perfectly.

I agree the S6 is probably a more fair comparison and as far as bang for the buck goes, a better choice. However, people considering those 2 cars aren't necessarily making a budget decision so in an all out performance comparison leaving money and snow driving aside, the C63 wins for me. Here in Denver I can't leave snow driving aside though, so when considering what I need, I'd still take an Audi.

I would love a C63 if I didn't have to deal with winter. But my next car is probably the new C450 AMG with AMG tuned rear-biased AWD.
