strapping nitrous to the b7 a4 a build thread

well i am about to venture into adding nitrous into my b7 a4. already has a few upgrades, pcv delete from bsh, upgraded piston style dv, downpipe, stage 2 apr tune. but i want more.. so i purchased the nitrous express proton fly by wire kit. theres about a million factors that come into play but im hoping to show you guys how im doing it since in all my research i cant find anyone else whos been dumb enough to add nitrious to this motor. nitrous express makes a great kit specifically designed for the drive by wire systems. here shortly ill be adding some pictures to show you guys the setup i plan on running. im sure along the way ill need some support and words of wisdom lol. and before anyone jumps in to say it im only going to be running a 35 shot to start because i dont have the tuning software myself yet so i cant change the timing, fuel, ect.

Why think of it was "reinventing the wheel" so much as a possible alternative to it. That's like asking "well, APR developed a K04 turbo kit, so why do any other turbo kit?"

I think a more accurate analogy would be asking, " hey APR, you've already developed a k04 kit, wanna develop another turbo kit that's slightly different and can have disastrous results if not properly tuned, plus is way harder on engine internals if used the wrong way by someone?"

You can get the same feeling with meth if it's done right and depending on how much you're running, but in all honesty, you're probably better off saving the $600 or so and putting it toward a bigger turbo.

If you're going to do it, I would recommend a wet shot. These motors do not have a ton of headroom in the fueling and it would be easy to find yourself going lean and screwing stuff up.

I'd tackle the maintenance issues, then save up for a bigger turbo. FWIW I 've heard JHMs development Stage 3 is coming along and requires basically the same mods you have.

Seriously though, meth is adding fuel where nitrous is adding oxygen. Meth will always be inherently safer.

That's almost as bad as running with two red Ts on your car. It can't handle that kind of power. You'll find yourself in 1955 in no time.

Look for a kit for the mk5 gti, I found it one time but I don't remember the name. It came with everything you need including the tune for around $1000.

Fafa also ran a it at one point, maybe try talking to him about it.

This is not true. Meth will never have the same gains as nitrous.

will be a wet shot... and all maintenance issues have been fixed ran it yesterday...boosted well no codes...ran through the different tunes and they all worked properly ... and as much as i appreciate the advice on saving my money and buying a turbo whats done is already done ... the beauty of owning a car is getting to do what you want.. today i felt like doing nitrous. gonna start out with asmall 35 wet shot just to get things moving and will most likely be purchasing the maestro tuning suite so i can change the timing and fuel ect ect for a bigger shot.

i should also make it known that this car is my toy. not my daily driver. not looking to to have everyday reliability and blah blah blah. i wanna go fast. i wanna build shit. and i wanna have fun. thats what its all about. if i blow the damn thing spraying it oh well. guess i gotta rebuild the motor.
