    Results from Track Night with fellow Audi's

    I went out the Palm Beach International Raceway last night with my buddy RonBars on the C7 S6 forums. I randomly met up with another S4 there that has GIAC Stage 2+ with the DSG software. The weather was perfect for sunny south Florida in the low 50's and I ended up getting the best times I have ran in this car before. See the videos and time slips below.

    Nice - looks like APR's 2015 tune is running well to trap 113.7 mph on pump gas and no DSG program.

    ^ was thinking that exactly especially after all the posts/threads about the '14+ s4 ECU tuning issues that apr's had! Kinda shocked actually...!

    what did the giac car run?

    With a dsg tune you have 115+mph traps and high Elevens easy

    Haha! I met him when I went the weekend before and he told me about how he got banned from the forums. Russian guy with the white Ibis S4. He ran a 11.98 last weekend with GIAC Stage2+ and DSG software and E85 gas mix. He said that was his best time ever in that car.

    Haha. No kidding. They always wanna bash apr. I am getting the EPLABS tune this Tuesday. Couldn't pass on the $850 stage 2 deal they had last week that included the pulley and belt. Bought the flash at home cable too. Would have prob gone APR iF not EPLABS. Excited on getting a dyno for comparison.

    You are definitely saving a lot of money by going with eplabs. Id be interested to see that dyno as well. Its going to be a whole different beast after that tune!

    And yes, launch control was used every run.

    Interesting that there's a 3 mph difference between the best run and the earlier run, both with essentially the same 60' time. Was there a big drop in DA / temps that night?

    The one thing that has been on my mind is the best run of the night was my 2nd run down the track and there was no wait in between runs. The run vs the S4 there was about 45 min worth of downtime where the car was off and the hood open. I am thinking the oil, transmission, and tires all like to be running at optimal temperatures. Here I was so worried about heat soak... I would like to do more testing like this but its hard as the track fills very quickly with the different classes of cars.

    It has been shown that the B8/8.5's love to hot-lap down the track. My best runs have often been the 6-7 run or even higher. "Heat soak" is some what of a myth. Great times!

    its weird, because my car is the complete opposite, maybe its because i dont have any cooling mods

    my best time was when the car had the most time inbetween to cool off

    I don't think it has anything to do with cooling mods.

    I have no cooling mods and my fastest times were always after 3-4 runs deep except for when I ran the race tune. Since it was my first and only run it was the fastest (by default).

    Why was the 60 foot in the GIAC car so bad? If you take that into consideration you both would have had near identical ET's

    Dsg with the power stage 2 makes doesn't need any skill from the driver imo, hell my wife could drive my car into the 11's

    Otherwise my point remains..anyone can fuck up a launch regardless if its DSG or 6MT.

    The owner of that car said he was having some inconsistencies with the GIAC DSG tune, so perhaps the LC wasn't perfect. Additionally, the track workers were a little liberal with the water in the burnout box, so there was no way to completely avoid getting the tires wet.
