Just had my suspension installed. Road noise is horrible. Every bump in road car is rattling. Everything is tight. Its only set at 3. Any suggestions?

I had the same issue at first, it sounded like a race car on a rough road. I was pretty upset. I had everything looked at again and the noises stopped. Nothing was loose as you said but I thought the car was falling apart. The initial noises gave way to spring binding and now they're silent. I would give it a few days, hopefully it improves.

Thanks for the reply. Im not to optimistic. What setting are you on. Im on 3 and going to switch i to 5. Shop is going to reinspect tomorrow. They are a great shop, I'm pretty sure it was not installer error. I see that car already settled a bit in the front. What settings are you on?

I have mine on 6 lol. You won't be able to go lower than 5 once you experience it. I initially had mine on 6, had him put it in 5 when it was re inspected and put it back to 6 the next day lol.

The noises lasted for about a week after the first install. I also think it might be related to how low the car was initially, I was rubbing the fender liners and scraping over speed bumps so it wasn't practical anyway.

Interesting.. I didn't have these issues on my install for my S5 cab. I initially had the fronts at 4 and rears at 6 but quickly switched to 6 all around. 6 is a perfect middle ground.

I hope your right. 3 is to low. Going to try 5 maybe tomorrow. So just by driving its going to go away. I think its even in the back of the car the noise also.

I don't know, mine seemed too. I had the shop pick my car up from work, I asked him if he noticed any noises on his drive and he said no. He checked everything and raised it up a bit and then the noises were gone. I did then hear spring binding a few weeks but that went away as well.

The noise I heard at first was coming from the drivers front wheel, happened over any irregularities in the road and sounded like a bolt was loose and banging around.

Car is smooth on even pavement. Any imperfection in road, car bangs and a lot of feedback. 7 was way to tight. went back for 5, tech put it on 3. Going to back and set at 5 and check ride height. If i have to return them i will and just going to loose labor. Its not my installers fault. I hope its maybe something loose.

Based on your mod list, your chassis is really stiff. Sways, Alu Kruez, 034 tranny mount, rear diff mount....those stiffen up the car quite a bit and that is probably contributing a lot to your issues.

Cold is an understatement... No noise from the suspension but lots of noise around my window frame.
    Good luck sorting this out....

On second thought, after I had the coilovers installed my car developed a loud, pronounced, annoying squeaking sound. I initially blamed the stiffening due to, coilovers, sways, end links but found out it was my convertible latches. A good lube solved my noise.
So it could be the stiffening caused the noise somewhere else on the frame...

Suspension is removed. I hope the company that sold it to me doesn't give me a hard time returning it. I will find out Monday. Looking at HR OE sprigs once i figure this out.

    Only just seen your PM

Did you get the guys to go over the install and double check everything? Something hasn't been assembled correctly if they were making so much noise.
Rubber donuts under the spring seats?
Damper located correctly in the top mount?
    Plastic rings on spring seats?
Top mounts at the correct torque?
    UCA's fitted correctly?
Do you have annual inspections over there, here they put the car on wobble plates to simulate bumpy roads, it highlights where noises come from, if a local garage has them it would be worth it to identify what exactly is knocking.

There's lots to check before you condemn some of the best dampers you can buy for the 5 and possibly worth taking the car to someone who's done these dampers before.

Shop checked everything. They use new polyurethane mounts. The ones in the front on struts are so small. They do this everyday. I just have no luck when it comes to coilers. After i return, maybe just going to do HR OE.

I picked the set up after all the positive feedback but I didn't take into account that no one installed these on a cabriolet. The cab is approx. 400 lbs heavier than the coupe. My ride height at the highest level was way too low. Switched to the PSS10 which gave me an additional inch of ride height. All good now. Good luck getting yours straitened out.

Aside from adjustability, what's the biggest downside to running springs versus coilovers on the RS? Currently weighing my options...

Tough call. Billstein is suppose to be best. I still can't figure out what happened? H&R coilovers. Nah, Maybe the RSS kit, if you want car really low. I heard KW v3 maybe. Again unless you want it slammed. Plus rear spring issue of sagging.

I can't believe all the BS you're going thru. When I took the H&R Streets off my car after a week, I figured I had no shot returning them but was able to sell them to one of the guys on the board. I paid $1100 sold them for $800. Worst case you may be able to sell them.

I still don't think your problem is just related to the coils. I still think it's the combination of your sways, alu kreuz, tranny mount and rear diff mount along with the coils that are causing your problem. Even though you say it was fine before you installed the coils, the coils themselves could have been what broke the camels back.

Sorry to hear your Bilsteins did not work out and I hope you get your car where you want it with some different parts. Just to set the record straight, and you can look at my mod list in signature, I have most of the parts on my car you had and I have no issues. The car is tight, I run 6 front and back on the Bilsteins. but no noises with over 25,000 miles now and comfort is pretty good on the crappy roads around here. IMO the handling is amazing in this configuration.

    Bad parts?

What do you think is bad with them?

I don't really think you gave them a chance, you posted the problem at 12am and had the dampers removed at 8pm the same day, I'd have given them a few days to settle down and bed in.
I understand the annoyance of unwanted noise but I'd have tried to work out the problem or given them a chance to settle in before whipping them off.
I'm sure you'll be able to sell them on here, they are probably the best dampers you can buy for the car.

Sorry it didn't work out for you.

They are for sure the best dampers you can buy for this car. I hope this thread doesnt scare someone when they are researching these coils through the search function. Bilstein makes the best dampers available and they work phenomenally well on the B8/.5 chassis - many many people on this forum run them with nothing but praise. And as good as the RS5 suspension is from the factory, the PSS10's are probably the only true streetable upgrade available for our cars.
