    Ughhh....what to do?

First world problems I know but I just don't know what to do. I've owned my RS4 for almost 3 years. Its been fantastic and I love it a lot. It will be turning 100K (60,000 miles) soon and I don't really think it needs anything in the next while. I work at a VW dealership and have put my name on a 2016 Golf R. I am not tied to the car at all however was given the opportunity to order a car incase I wanted one.

There are many pluses and minuses to the golf R. The main pluses being that it is new, has full warranty, has current, up to date technology, much more fuel efficient, and can be made very fast with a little amount of money. Downsides include the sound, no sunroof, and just not exciting like the RS4.

I know the opinion here will be biased as we all love and adore the RS4 however do any of you think the switch to a new Golf R would be a decent idea?
Pricewise I think I could sell the RS4 and pay a little more for a brand new Golf R.

    Thoughts?

Drive the Golf and see what you think. From the reviews I've read so far, it is getting a solid "meh".
Not bad, just not especially inspiring. I'm holding out hope that the Focus RS will have much awesome.

I have had my 07 since new. I am going to wait for either RS3 or Golf 400R.

I think your priorities are shifting from excitement and brutality to comfort and peace of mind.

There is nothing wrong with that. Comparing a 7-year old car with a brand new top of the model line VW speaks a lot about the former. However, for me, the dynamics of a true quattro system coupled with a high revving V8 still can't be beat quite yet. Not anything from the VW line anyway.

Except by the dynamics of RWD in a lightweight, mid-engined package.

I would absolutely not make that switch. But, I've never been a big VW guy.

Yeah I've actually really done a 180 in the past day thinking about this. I LOVE my RS4 and it was my dream car for far too long. Driving it last night solidified to me that I want to keep the car. Nothing beats the sound and the overall presence of that car. Figured I will spend spend some money on upgraded mounts, intake spacer and a JHM flash instead of on another car!

I'd take a new GOLF R as a daily driver over the RS4. Like you mentioned earlier, 4 year warranty, better gas mileage , newer technology. With a tune and a few bolt ons the car will be very quick. This coming from a former Mk4 R32 owner , who's DD is a 2013 GTI The RS4 makes a nice weekend / occasional track day car. But I see you already have pretty nice weekend car.

I wouldn't trade an RS4 for a Golf R either but that's just me. My girlfriend's father has a 2012 or 2013 R and I rode in it. It was quick and nimble but just not as refined as an Audi.

So by "refined" you mean "pig heavy"? :)

Not exactly. I mean a better fit and finish, superior interior materials, and not a german chevrolet that all volkswagens are. They have stepped their game up a lot in the last 10 years but a luxury car they are not.

I love the Golf R especially since working for vwcredit/audi financial. We actually have someone here who has one. It's a beautiful car and would love to get one. Since I got my new BBS rims, I looked in my mirror the other day and saw a guy taking a picture of my car. I came out of the grocery store yesterday and saw two people taking a picture of my car. After seeing stuff like that, it reminds me that these cars are a one of kind. I love the RS4
