Rust bubbling out from my drivers side upper quarter panel

So, a few days ago I notice some rust comming out from underneath the paint...

I want to get this fixed put I'm not sure how much it will cost. I would like to take it to a dealer with a reputable body shop to get this refinished. I'm worried Ill f*** it up if I try to do it myself.

I've included some pictures... Here they are, please tell me what you guys think! Thank you!

I have some paint feeling in my rear quarters at the edge, has done surface rust. I was quoted 600 per panel to repair and paint. If they have to paint that whole fender I'd guess it close to 600, if they can blend it, in guessing 300 range

I had perforation in that area when I purchase my car which I had covered under warranty, replaced the fender. Had they turned it down I would have definitely at least attempted to fix the area myself and then pick up some OEM splash guards. At least that way you'll have the rust gone and recovered and not have to worry so much about how good a job you do painting as it will be covered by the splash guards. I picked some up anyway and they fit pretty seamlessly. Mind you I have a black Avant so they don't really stand out but they definitely keep the salt and road debri from sandblasting that area, especially if you are running spacers. My 2 cents. There are lots of tutorials online on what steps to use and how to feather in the paint to existing etc.

Audi has a 12 year rust warranty and you have an 03 so they might cover it. Try talking to your local dealer and see what they say. From what I've read, though, it seems like they only cover really bad rust, but it's worth a try.

Does the other side have similar corrosion occurring in the same places? If not, then the fender having the corrosion is most likely not OEM. The Audi perforation warranty is expired and does not apply to repaired body panels regardless.

For a lot of important reasons, salt deicing on roads should be banned everywhere.

If you go tht route and repair yourself, I'd consider using POR15 or similar, it seals the metal and stops rust from going further, can be sanded and painted over also. Especially useful if you where to then cover the spot with flaps

Yeah, my avant rear hatch is rusting from the inside out, Audi body techs say it's because the rear washer fluid leaks Internally and causes to rust, Audi would not cover it because it had not gone all the through yet, now a year later it's getting a lot worse and of course, warranty is now expired.

I had a similar spot like that fixed on my B6, but my car was already in the body shop to repair the paint from someone keying the whole side of my car.

He didn't charge me anything extra, I can't imagine something that small costing too much, maybe like $80-120? Doesn't look like it will need to be welded, prob just ground down, filled with bondo/duraglass, primed, and blended.

    Thank you Jason!

I've called my buddy that owns a body shop and told me he'd take care of me.

Were not supposed to have rust on our cars! I've got some rust right under the trim strip on the passenger door by the hinge.

Have you ever actually had the inner panel off and checked? I doubt that is really happening, I have some rust bubbles on the hatch underneith the paint with no corrosion coming through, I suspected the same thing but when I had my inside panel off replacing a wiring harness it was prestine inside.

I have not had the panel off, I took the techs word for it, he recommended not repairing it also, said it would just continue to rust anyway
