My original drivers side carpet floor mat has deformed and rides up against the pedals, so I decided to order some replacements from ECS.

Problem is they don't fit - even though ECS advertise them as for the S6. The mounting clips are not even close..

Does anyone have a part number for the rubber mats that are actually for the S6?

I have. They are going to call me tomorrow, and are processing a return for the ones I have. However, that doesn't solve my main problem. I need a part number that is correct - as the one they list isn't. I suspect the ones they list as for the S6 are actually allroad parts.

ECS Tuning just phoned me. They won't budge from the "these are the correct parts for your car" stance. Obviously this is not correct as you can see from the photo. They'll take them back to sell to some other sucker no doubt - but i'm out of pocket the shipping because they listed them incorrectly. Awesome.

Running out of decent online stores. Last purchase i'll be making from ECS that's for sure.

EDIT: Spoke with my local Audi dealer. They confirm that the mats ECS are selling as fitting the S6 are actually V6 model mats. Audi don't make / sell the V8 ones anymore.

Here's a pic of what the OEM 4.2 mat looks like. There's no part# on it though. BUT! If you're interested I can tell you that I bought a set of mats off Ebay a while back, also misadvertised as being for a 4.2/A6, they were actually 'sport' mats from a B5 S4. And they fit. Not perfect, but the drivers mat is SUPER close- I think the grommet/anchors even match up. Passenger mat is close enough that you almost wouldn't notice- but one anchor is off on that side.

Here's a pic of ECS's B5 A4 sport mats- you can see that the drivers side would be "good enough" if the price was right.

I had these in my narowbody A6 and I can confirm that they'll fit very good, not perfect, but way better than that hideous thing up there. They don't sag, they'll click in fasteners, only thing is that they're bit narrower than A6 ones with logo that I have now.I don't have picture of A4 ones installed to share, sold'em long time ago.

The transmission tunnel is wider on the widebody V8's so the floor pan is completely different than your narrowbody. The sagging you see in Sparkstack's photo is the result of putting mats designed for the narrowbody floor pan into a widebody C5.

The part number for the 4.2L rubber mats is ZAW 179 005. According to my OEM reseller it's not listed as a discontinued part but there is no stock in the North American channels (the purchase through a local VW dealership so this is the official VAG inventory). However, they seem to be in stock at Audi Parts Superstore @ $112.48 + $20 (approx) shipping. Berndari has them for $101 + shipping. Never ordered from these guys but at least it's an option for you.

Contrary to the Bernardi description they do not have an A6 logo in the mats, like Rollerton's image shows. I bought my set for my old 2000 4.2L then transferred them to the S6 after the A6 was written off. Perfect fit as the floor pan is the same on 4.2, S6 and RS6. The rear mats are also specific to the 4.2L floor shape BTW.

I still have my OE carpet mats from the S6. I'd have to double check but I *think* the drivers mat is in reasonably good shape. I've been meaning to through them out to clean up my storage locker so if you can't get the rubber mats you're more than welcome to my carpet mats for the cost of shipping.

So after much back and forth with ECS Tuning this afternoon, where they alternated between insisting they were the correct mats, (even after me forwarding an email from my local dealer stating they were v6 mats and the V8 ones are no longer available) to them then telling me I ordered the wrong parts, I finally got them to refund me the full amount, including the shipping costs.

    Totally unacceptable.

I'd recommend not buying mats from ECS Tuning - and I'd also recommend triple checking any part numbers they list as compatible with your vehicle as it's obvious their online store is broken.

Yeah. I appreciate that ECS has to attempt to make a profit, but in the maybe 6 or 8 times I've ordered anything from them I have always had some issue or other. Always. Every single time.
Even now when it looks like they have some screaming deal I'm always disappointed by some fine-print bullshit or the shipping costs. Once in a while there's some awesome clearance on wheels- last time it was like $52/ea for some decent wheels on clearance and like $220 in shipping. They mark their shipping costs up 100% and claim "warehouse costs".
Seriously? And You can be SURE even if I gave in and went for it, they'd fuckin get it WRONG and take ZERO responsibility.

    Not. Worth. It.

Sorry, ECS, nothing personal but you do suck.

I like ECS and use them a lot. Their shipping used to be slow and overpriced, but they fixed that several years ago. Pricing on o.e.m. and aftermarket stuff is very competitive. The one place they do not compete well is authentic VAG parts. There are some VW/Audi dealer websites with significantly better prices on those. The guys packing the shipments make too many mistakes, but ECS has always corrected them. Sometimes you just have to know what you're doing and these floormats are a good example. Even most dealer parts guys don't know that V6s and V8s use different mats.
