Fog light issue/question?

Hi all,
Apologise if this has been covered before but I can't seem to find the exact answer. Had a VAGCOM check this morning and no faults were found. However, whilst I was driving to my local Dyno Dynamics for a boost leak test earlier I noticed that my fog lights were working but I had no light on the dash to acknowledge this. I did however have the head/side symbol. When I arrived I switched the lights off and even took the key out of the ignition but they stayed on? Locking the car seemed to turn them off.
Could this be a possible switch failure? I'm about to take a long drive to Germany on Sunday and would hate for the lights to fail on route.

They stay on when the car is off, that's the coming home feature. My fogs are DRL's in "Canada" mode if that makes any difference to you.

Ah right that makes sense thanks, still the question of the dash light when they are on though?

Yes, I'll confirm you should have a green dash light on with fogs, not sure why you don't , haven't come across that before. It would be nice not too, it's a permanent fixture on mine.
