I have talked to people who say don't do this and some don't work but when you have people breaking into your car and it being a $400 repair , I am thinking its worth a shot. Does anyone have any experience with the secondary market security systems.

Both have the shock sensor which is what I need!
Thanks in Advance.
I have years of experience in purchasing and having alarms and stereos (full blown custom work) installed in my car.
Viper (DEI) is the go to after market alarm/remote start systems. They have been around for ever and they make great products.
As important as the product if not more important is the installer. You may find a good installer at Best Buy but I would talk/interview the installer first. I have always had my stuff done at a specialty shop that does car stereos and alarms and even those shops are all not equal in talent so research your installer.
The models you listed are very good and the 1 mile range of course is line of site but nonetheless, the range is very impressive! Make sure they run the antenna up the A-Plillars and tuck it behind the rear view mirror under the headliner (if you don't want to see it).
If you don't mind paying a small fee for service, I recommend looking at the Smart Start which you can operate from your phone. If your car alarm goes off, you will get a text and alarm on your phone. You can start or lock your car from anywhere from your phone.
If you go to
www.expresskit.com you can check to see if there is an interface for your car.
TRUE STORY - I was eating in Subway when my 2-way remote alerted me that my alarm was going off. I ran out to find my car was hit by a teenage girl back out of her parking spot. There was just a scuff that looked like it could be rubbed out and the grandmother pleaded that I don't call the cops. She gave me $200 to get it rubbed out. By the way, they were starting to pull away when I pounded on their car and screamed at them to stop. Glad I had my 2-way alarm.
