weird electrical issues and im clueless

im new to my b5 pride and joy... she has issues. My main one is an electrical issue and I thought it wouldnt be a huge deal but more issues have come up. First, when I turn my headlights on my windshield wipers come on, no biggie, take out wiper fuse and use headlights. where weve had bad weather the roads were salted so now my windshield has salt paste all over it, no wiper fluid, i go get some. now the weirder part: i put my wier fuse back in and pull the fluid stalk, no fluid go figure, but the red lightning on my stereo goes out. i can pull the lever and when its all the way back there will be light but when i let go theyre all out. i turn lights off and back on and hey stereo lights back on... this happens with wiper fuse in and out no change. Ive got an electrical gremlin and ground sounds like a good start, but i have no idea where theyre at or where to start. My intermittent wiper works so i figure that relay is not the issue and maybe ignition switch could describe the problem as the previous owner said cruise works but i tried it tonight and it doesnt. Im new to this car, i dont know it, i had a mk3 jetta that worked on but though i love the car im clueless and really need some help

ok so check this out, i installed my rear wiper blade as the old one was broken and of course i had to check it out. Lo and behold i figured out that if i get in my car and push the wiper stalk forward to actuate the rear wiper the turn on the lights the main wipers dont turn on with the lights on, even if i turn the front wipers on they wont stay on... good to know for now and a nice bandaid way of keeping lights on without being annoyed or puling a fuse, but weird!
