    B6 crankshaft holder

    Hey guys-
I have a 2002 a4 1.8t. I just purchased this car and do not have the previous maintenance records. I am getting ready to change the timing belt/water pump/tensioner/roller/valve cover gasket/coolant flange/thermostat/oil change etc- my question is-

Where can I find the correct crankshaft holder tool for doing the timing belt? I have searched and searched and there seems to be a million different tools, but I'm not sure what one I would need for this vehicle.

Thank you in advance for all your help!

A place between here and there

You don't need a holder tool for this job. That tool is to be able to torque the crank bolt to spec. That does not need to come off for what you want to do.
I hate it when my car acts like a little bitch, treating me like a bitch

I'm replacing the crank seal as well. I should have specified that as well in my original post. So I will have to torque that bolt back down

i recommend fabing up a holder tool using some 1/4" X 1.250 wide steel bar stock. At the crank damper end, add a pivoting extension bar attached to the main bar length with a bolt and nut for a pivot. At the end of the main bar and the 10" long pivoting bar, drill a hole near the end of the bars and install a 3/8" X 2.5" bolt and nut to hold the bolts in the holes. With the tool assembled, engage the two bolts into the crank front pulley to hold the crank as needed. The length of the main bar is long enough to place against something to hold the tool against the torque reaction when loosening and torquing the crankshaft center bolt.
