Anyone else receive wheel customer satisfaction campaign / recall 44L6?

    Hi all,

I received a letter from AoA stating that certain cars were produced with wheels that don't meet Audi's appearance requirements. If I am understanding correctly, if I needed to order a replacement wheel, it wouldn't match my other 3.

Anyone else get this? Haven't had a chance to talk to my dealer yet, but it is odd they want to buy me 4 brand new wheels.

I've got a 2015 S7 with Black Optic Package, so the wheels are the 20" titanium colored 5 split spokes.

    Thanks!

I would like to know more. I have the 2014 BO with those wheels. Do they specify what specifically is wrong with the specification??

Nope, but I think it has to do with the color of the wheels. It say 2015 MY, so I suspect it was during a certain production timing, not all wheels like that ever made.

Hmm. These are also the wheels they are now using on the 2016 S6 BO.

Just chatted online with AoA, and was told it pertained to certain 19" wheels, which means I don't think it applies to my 20" Black Optic wheels. Will double-check with dealer.

I work at Audi as a service advisor. I found out about this today. I believe it is these wheels in the link at the bottom. I believe it was something with the paint... so they are trying to get all of these replaced with "updated color" so that they match the correct color. guessing there was a batch during production that got screwed up.

Thanks, ParkerB5. I appreciate you sharing this! I spoke with my dealer (figured I wouldn't take AoA's word for it) and the service advisor told me it was my 20" BO wheels. So, they are on order for me, and I am going to have them replaced. Good news is I had a very, very tiny curb rash on one of them, so this is a win-win for me! Though now I wish I hadn't spent an hour in the cold cleaning the wheels all over before I stored them for winter!

Yeah glad I can help! The campaign was pretty confusing at first... But then I realized they were trying to avoid saying what the real problem was but simply beating around the bush... They're to be "disposed of properly" sounds like my D2 A8 may have another set of 20s to the collection ;)

Okay, picked up my new wheels today after dropping the old ones off Saturday. First, I was happy to see the S7 easily swallowed the 4 wheels w/ tires with the seats down. New ones look very similar. The tech felt the only noticeable difference was that the new ones seemed to have a higher polish face on the flat elements, including the circumference right at the tire. Looks that way to me, too. He offered to run back and grab the old one for a side-by-side comparison, but it was late, so didn't want to hold him up. Will post pictures of the new ones compared to pics of old ones this weekend.

Audi part number is 4H0 601 025 BS. Looks like they go for about $1100 list, and are available at some dealers in my area for around $950-$1000. Even factoring for mark-up, this was a costly "customer satisfaction campaign" for sure.
