    B5 A4 1.8T - Won't stay running

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate the help

Went to start the thing the other morning - it turned over, idled, bogged down, went back idle then eventually, slowly died. I'm at a complete lost for what can be the issue here. I've checked the plugs, they are fine. I've put new fuses in for engine timing and the fuel pump. I hear the pump prime up before cranking. Occasionally upon turning the key to start the car I get 3 loud beeps. Sometimes there is a CEL, other times nothing. My V-checker won't read any engine fault codes. Oil isn't burnt smelling and there is plenty of it. It has a full tank of gas.

My thoughts are CPS, Fuel filter, Fuel Pump, FP Relay, but I honestly have no idea.

Thanks again for reading and any help.

My car beeped bc I had a bad ABS module when I turned it on. Will the car run at all? Or does it always die?

    Thanks for the response!

My ABS module has been out for awhile and typically it doesn't beep until about 1 min. of driving it. Also, it won't run for longer than a few seconds. It quickly dies. The beeping starts upon trying to roll over the car.

Not instantly. Sometimes it will start, idle a second or two then die. Then sometimes it will try to run for a minute then bog down and die. What about the FPR that is mounted on the fuel rail? Would a failing fuel pressure regulator cause this?

Unplug the MAF see what happens, my tip came off my turbo once so the MAF was funky.

When you turn the key to the on position, does the cel come on, every time? Does your vchecker communicate with the ECU?

I would start it and give it a little gas to see if it will stay running and hold it for a bit. If I does stay running i would do what other are saying, check hoses, check for a boost leak, unplug the maf. Did you get shit gas possibly?

Sounds like possible fuel pump or throttle body adaptation to me.

CEL doesn't come on every time. I think it's odd. The V-Checker does communicate with ECU but it won't register that there is a fault code though.

I'll unplug the MAF and check all the hoses today. I'm also going to remove the Fuel Pump service plate to make sure I'm hearing it prime and to make sure it doesn't sound funny.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
