    Has Anyone Logged Unitronic Stage 2+?

    I'm excited about the new additions to market uni will be bringing such as uniconnect but I'm hesitant to get their tune until some people have logged and shared the information with the community. I was actually thinking of taking the plunge this weekend and logging on the dyno but I'm a bit hesitant to be the guinea pig.... especially for their 2+ 93 tune running on 91. Does anyone have any data or experience with stage 2+ from uni??

    I think by logging he means more than just Dyno -- like ignition timing, a/f, boost etc

    I know, the tune has been out for a bit. I'm surprised there isn't any track times or logs yet.

    I think the 'hardcore' track people just get apr or giac based on the records those tunes have. It will take one or two people with UNI who get comparable numbers proven before everyone jumps in to try.

    Yeah I'm interested in more than just dyno numbers I'm curious about timing/boost bypass/af/timing retard in comparison with other tunes out there. There has been a lot of analysis and discussion of other tunes power making strategy so I'm quite curious to see how aggressive(or not) their stage 2+ is since it's designed to work on 91 or 93.

    I'm actually quite excited about uniconnect coming to market(I'm out of warranty so not for td1) but for the ability to perform map updates, load new revisions, dsg tunes etc when new ones are available.

    I'm getting uni stage 2+ done Monday. I have vagcom, if anyone tells me view to log I can do it. Although I won't have any dyno numbers for a month or longer and no track times until summer since the tracks don't open here until then. Which is ok cause hopefully by then uni dsg flash will be released. Other than the tune I'm getting Monday, I'm stock performance wise.


    Also I'll be running 92vpower gas, as we don't get any higher in Washington staTe

    I'm going in tomorrow for Stage 1. Very curious how the car will behave.

    Definitely follow the APR site that was linked for all the measuring blocks. There is section for the 3.0T on the page!

    In terms of procedure I generally like to start the data recording and find a fairly level stretch of highway to do a 3rd gear run from low rpms... maybe 2k to redline. If you are a DSG you'll have to be wary of the kick down switch as causing a downshift will make the results less useful.

    Save the results; once you have the data I'll be happy to graph it up for you!

    Sounds good. Haven't looked at it on the computer yet, but I'm guessing once everything is set up you just hit log at the start of each run? I'll try to play with it sometime this week.

    So I took a look at some of the parameters here and couldn't find many of them on the 8.5. Granted it was quick since I was rushed due to happy hour, but I couldn't find many of the selected items. Any one with an 8.5 ecu that can recommend the selections for the data log?

    I think they change sometimes worth new vcds versions. Best bet is to look by name rather than number. It's a little tedious. I believe you can save a log setup, so you don't have to redo every time. I briefly tried this but don't remember the outcome. Should be possible.

    Just curious where you are getting the tune done as I am located in Burlington and am looking at possibly getting a tune done soon.

    I took another look at this. Using the Apr website listed, most of the values don't match up. So unless someone knows of another source or can tell me which parameters to select on the 8.5 it's a no go.

    Same issue here, I tried to log my unitronic stage 1+ and got the same issue as brianc21. Anyone logged theirs ? I could not even find the timing retard for all cylinders, etc...

    The numbers don't line up, but the signal names do. Just go through and grab some simple ones, like RBF_AV (597), IGA_AD_1_KNK[1] (470), Engine speed (23), Accelerator position (2), ignition actual (223), Intake air temperature (225) etc.

    The names are the same, so if there is something you want to look for, just scroll down till you see it. It's not hard once you get the hang of it.

    Stopped off at the bar on the way home since all the grocery stores are closed.....gotta eat. I don't know how to decipher any of it except it appears to be bleeding off zero boost. I logged from the list in the middle link but eliminated the knock parameters since that was going to be to many.

    Sorry for the slow turnaround on graphing her is one example run. Are you at elevation by any chance? I ask because I didn't ask you to grab me a reading of ambient air pressure(same measuring block as you logged but with car not started). As such I used sea level HPA which could skew the actual PSI numbers.... so take those with a grain of salt. If you can get me an ambient reading I'll re do the graphs. If you were to run another set of logs getting timing correct per cylinder would also be good.

    Results:
    On each of the runs the boost bypass valve stayed completed closed which is a good thing. You're getting everything the supercharger can squeeze out. Timing is also quite strong... it's running up to 18-19 degrees at redline which is similar to the Revo 91 tune I had. Most of the stage 2 tunes from other vendors dial back timing a little bit due to the increased boost. This is why it would be good to see the timing correction values on a run.

    The boost graphs are what I can't quite wrap my head around. It may be due to the fact that I didn't have a correct ambient reading but I graphed 3 runs and they all showed similar numbers. The tune is asking for 16+ PSI across the board but only putting out 13ish. Stage 1 cars put out 12ish and I would expect a pullied car to put out more like 15+. I guess it is possible that the uni pulley is closer to stock size than the others and they use more timing to make power. Or you are at altitude or had a low pressure front moving through at the time of logging so the values I'm showing are skewed. It looks like UNI takes the sledgehammer approach and asks for much more boost than the car is capable of making in order to make sure the boost valve stays close. In a turbo car that's a bit of a no-no but with a supercharger it's no problem.

    That would be great! It will give us some idea as all the other pulley diameters are known.

    In terms of additional measuring blocks for more data it's just two things:

    1) The ambient air pressure reading. To do this have the vcds hooked up when your ignition is set to the ON position but the car is not started. The manifold pressure (which you are already logging) will give us the ambient pressure. This is subtracted out from absolute pressures from your logging runs to show how many PSI are actually made. If this number is lower than what I used for graphing previously it would explain the low boost numbers that were calculated.

    2) Add the ignition correction per cylinder. This indicates how much timing is pulled per cylinder. This is an important value to gauge how "aggressive" the tune is.

    Got 2.6563 inch on the vernier caliper. Seems a bit larger than all of the other pulleys.
    Inside rib is 2.3438

    Here is a map on MN to determine roughly how elevated your location might be..

    I tried to get a few more today. Not sure if it worked as well tho. It wouldn't let me take any readings with the engine off, so I had to grab the pressure at idle which was 300. I did find an ambient air pressure selection and that says 98.

    The ignition timing correction was also another issue. I was able to find one that fit but it was only for cylinder 1. I guessed and used the "IGA_IGC". For cylinder 0-5. Not sure if that was the right one.
