Alpina B7 2008

So,

A friend of mine keeps talking poop about the S6 and he has this Alpina. He constantly over the last few years sends me picks of cars that he has "walked!" I am too old and too grey for street racing but it seems like every car notices his B7 and wants to run. He has beaten, according to him, c63 amgs, cls amgs and on and on. He must have a factory freak.

I am tired of his smack talk and I am about to give him his chance. He is smart enough to not run from a dig. He wants 40mph roll and I won't go above 100 and I want to do this super early on Saturday when no one is on the hwy.
I am stock but I do think I will walk him although we are probably same weight and he has more HP and torque. Am I wrong?

Also, after getting the suspersion issue solved through my very kind dealer, I notice that my car at times ends up sitting a little higher after it has been parked. Am I losing my mind?

Well even though the b7 is huge, its pretty effin quick. I suppose its 0-60 is less than 4.5 and it does the 1/4 mile in around 12.5 or less. I am sure you can walk him if you had apr stg 1. Stock- not so sure- the coin can land on either side.

Personally I'd insist on a dead stop to 100mph. Oh, and use Launch control... :)

So 2008 B7: 0-60: 4.4, 1/4: 12.8
2013 S6 (launch Control): 0-60:3.7, 1/4:12.4

You got his ass... just make sure its from a stop... Evidently the Alpinas get quicker as speed increaces... It'll outpace a R8 AFTER 100mph (per car and driver).

Even though he wants a 40mph roll , push him to race from the dig- that is your game. Just tell him its from the dig or nay! Put a rear facing go pro on your trunk lid and remind your buddy to smile all the time .
On a side note- whats with these bmw owners, they always want to race any car that passes them. Geez, they need to calm their tits down

It's a simple HP/weight ratio calculation... Sure there are other variables, but far FEWER variable from a rolling start!

If he has more HP/TQ yet you're the same weight, what makes you think you would win?????

why waste your time with this idiot... 40mph roll, what an ass. Tell him yeah, no kidding you will beat me once rolling but I agree with the other guys that a standing start will be a fair ask. he get's his roller and you get to spank him off the line

Or just let him know you have nothing to prove and winning or losing doesn't make any of your body parts any longer or shorter. If you really need to, a quarter mile track day could show more about your reaction time or a real track day could show how you can drive/handle your car.

This is the 4.4 liter supercharged and not the twin turbo. For some reason, call is stupid, I think with the quicker shifting tranny and the obvious fudging of the numbers by Audi that I have a chance on a 40 roll. I will keep you posted.

I'd guess that you will easily take him from a stop (with launch control). Even from a roll, I certainly don't think he'd slaughter you.

If you were tuned I bet you'd easily take him from any roll speed.

But even the new one is not super quick... I saw one live at Etown months back and i think it ran a 12.4... If you have the 4.0TT S6 i think it will be close from a roll but you will kcik his butt from a dig... I would try both...

Run your car a couple of times from 50mph and see which gear/rpm gives you the best jump...

Smartest advise here. I second this. Run your car a few times- gunning from 40mph. I think either way you would run from 1st or 2nd gear for the best gallop. Man this is getting exciting

I will say that it is Alpina's fault, not BMW's... BMW actually underrate their cars too in terms of power, in most cases.

For some reason Alpina markets their cars as better with more power etc etc, BUT in recent years they are just some overpriced BMW tuner. Nothing more...

No, black with a cross on the rear badge. His texts of his kills of cars that should destroy his are getting to be insane. He claims they all start it. Car is as sedate looking as a S6 IMO to a non car guy/gal.

I will go against my better judgment and run him once to get it over with. If I get crushed it will result in a tune. Not really wanting to tune this car and go down that road. Pun intended!!!!

He was too busy to hook up yesterday. I really do believe that the S6 is faster. Just based on posted trap speeds. The 08 B7 doesn't even get into 110 mph trap. The slowest I have seen a S6 do it has been 112.

Agreed - maybe in colder weather (of course the type of tire used is pretty important too.) the difference between MPSS and the 555r's were tremendous
