RNS E recode Aux on again without VCDS by using engineering mode?

Short story...2009 Audi A4 B7 Cabriolet (yep, still B7 in 2009 for the Cab). I've installed an EnFig Iphone interface through the aux port using the cd player in the glovebox, and I also use the factory satellite player. I'd disconnected the battery while replacing the timing belt. Battery was disconnected for several days. When I reconnected the battery, I had to follow the manual for key pairing, but the radio came up just fine...until I connected my phone. Looks like the Aux input setting is gone from the RNS E. Is there any way to reprogram this through engineering mode on the RNS E, or will I need to use VCDS. I know I need VCDS, but I've kept putting it off due to money. I'd like to not have to buy it to turn on the Aux input of the RNS E.
I've seen a video on entering engineering mode, and it shows a coding menu, but I haven't found any forum news saying it can be changed.

    Thanks,

This doesn't really make sense. The coding in your RNS-e should not change no matter how long the battery is disconnected.

Not sure exactly what it was, but it fixed itself after an on and off cycle for a few hours. I restarted the car, connected the phone, and all was back to normal. It may have been the interface causing the "no CD found" error.
