So I just replaced my clutch and as soon as i started driving it, suddenly the pressure line right by the slave cylinder for the clutch gave out and i need to replace it. Do anyone knows where to find it?? I just simply can't find it nowhere and dont know where to turn. I had to drive to school (UTI) today shutting the engine off at every stop and putting it in gear then starting it to keep going. I NEED HELP ASAP Thanks

This may or may not be the line you are referring to. Maybe try to email the website and/or talking with your local audi dealer to try and find a part number. Sounds like a rare thing to go wrong. Never heard of it happening before.

There is a vin split on this part. This has to do with whether the car came with metal clutch master and slave, or their plastic (Eeww!) counterparts. Early cars (96 and early 97) got the metal parts, and late 97 and up got the plastic. The difference is the connections on the end of the line. The metal units use a threaded flare fitting, the plastic crap uses a "push-lock" aka "quick-connect" type fitting.

A 96 will definitely have the threaded fittings.

Getting the new line in is going to be hell and a half without dropping the transmission. Ask me how I know

Actually the hardest part is trying to get the thing out from the battery tray. Other option would be to just replace it with a USP Motorsports SS Line kit.

This setup but without the metal slave since you already have that stock in your car.

I run that kit in my A4 1.8t, along with the CM FCV.

^Yeah, but that's not going to work with his metal master. Unless USP Motorsports will make him a custom line with threads on both ends. They probably would, too.

Having installed this line during my 5-speed swap (with engine, trans and brake booster/master removed), I completely agree that a braided metal line would be *so* worth it if you are doing it yourself (and probably even if somebody else is doing it!).

Depending on where the break in the line is, it may be possible to repair it in place. I used a compression fitting on mine to convert a newer "push-lock" line to a threaded fitting. Thus I am running a plastic master with a metal slave using an OEM line. The compression fitting is used to splice the metal part of the line like so:

You can see in the photo that I've used that fitting to effectively replace the last 6 inches of the OEM line with a piece of my own making. But if the leak is in the rubber hose part...you're hosed.

He can always ask them. If the threads are the same on both ends then all it would need is the adapter they already use at the metal body and the AN fitting on the line.

Removing the line alone on my 2000 A4 sucked enough (I was on jackstands) when I installed a SS line and metal slave that M-Hood posted above. But removing it was terrible, I got so frustrated I jut cut it in half and yanked the fuck out of it until it came out.

Which is why I left the stock metal line in my car, it was hard enough to make it move just to plug in/out of the master cylinder. When I am ready to remove it I will have to cut it out too.

Wow, I really owe it to BlkBullit. He is the very nice guy who pulled this line off his parts car and sold it to me at a very good price. I was in a bind and needed this to continue with my swap. He pulled the part and shipped it the very next day after I asked him about it. Arrived in perfect condition, just in time. Based on all your guy's accounts, it sounds like this was not an easy task! (So glad he didn't cut it!)

Sorry to revive this dead thread but i didn't want to start another with the topic already on the table. I just replaced my stock plastic slave cylinder and the clutch line pops out during bleeding process when pressure is built up. I was looking around on USPs site and they have a SS line for OEM slave, http://www.uspmotorsports.com/USPAud...lutchline.html, and was curious to see if anyone has installed it on their b5 5spd.

I know a bunch of Audi owners that run that line, no issues with it. I have been running their SS line with the metal slave body for a few years now.

Pretty easy, just have to make sure that the plastic sleeve and 0-ring seal are lined up correctly, plus you get the fitting pushed in all the way.

I just ordered this: http://www.uspmotorsports.com/Drivet...speed-02A.html , hoping it fill fit my 96 from before plastic slave days.
It has a 12x1 thread, same as this one (i think?).

    Would that work?

    Thanks!
