They are, but when you turn on the parking lights (second position from off) they dim. I just changed mine to 100% (took a few tries) and it now stays the same between Off, auto, parking, and headlights.

I turned on the European parking lights
And I just used them the other day
But it only works for the LED DRL
parking lights should have one light in the front, and one light In the back
Has anyone gotten this to work for front and back

You changed turn on the parking lights when you leave your turn signal stalk in the right or left position when you turn off the car
    Not the usual centered position

Adjusted my DRL brightness to 70% with low beams on.

What is everyone else going to?

I started off at 50% but then upped it to 100%. No flashes so far. FWIW, there didn't seem to be much difference from 75%-100%.

Has anyone tried the turn on TPMS function? 2013 S5 here, i turned it on, and it just gives me an flashing TPMS error so i just turned it back off. I was reading in another forum that our tire pressure is calculated using the ABS system, so some say it should work. I've also read that the newer vehicles come with a different ABS part so the tpms can be no longer useable by simply coding. Anyone have any insight?

My 2006 Acura TL had very accurate TPMS readings (in psi) for each tire. My 2015 Audi S5 has a warning light that I never see and I have to reset its baseline when I add air to the tires. Sad. <sorry a little off topic>. Any idea what the TPMS switch is supposed to do?

I believe its for those without TPMS, so it enables it. My car did not come with it, so i enabled it and all i get is a warning light, which is why i was wondering if anyone got it to work somehow.

Not sure why there is an option to enable TPMS on our cars. It won't just magically work. We don't have TPMS sensors on our wheels, which would be the only way it would work. Our cars measure the tire pressure differently, as u mentioned (I believe it has to do with the rotational mass of the tire when properly inflated and set). Maybe Carista is somewhat standardized across a few platforms, and other ones use TPMS. Not sure though.

There are direct and indirect systems. Direct use the TPMS monitors that are part of he valve stem. Those will not work unless the car comes equipped with the receiver, which many cars and motorcycles do even if they don't come with the sensors.

The indirect system is monitored by ABS and is a function of the ABS module via the individual tire speed sensors. A tire with a different level of air with have a different circumference and spin at a different speed. Any car with a newer (~5 years maybe??) abs module will be compatible as long as the ecu can read and interpret the signal coming from the abs module. The valve stem sensors are generally more accurate and the ones that will display the PSI. On my A3 I could use vag-com to see the individual PSI but there was no way that I knew of to display that. My Speed Triple shows the front and back tire pressure when selected. They both has valve stem sensors. The speed triple does not and cannot get reset, the factor setting is what the tires are supposed to be and that cannot be changed and once they deviate you get a light. On the A3 you could still set it to the pressure you want but once they are at the set pressure the light would go out without the need to drive or hit the reset button (unless you wanted to change the target pressure). The S4 doesn't use a sensor but VAG's seem to be much more advanced in their interpretation of he abs signal and may be able to now calculate fairly precise individual tire pressure. That being said, this is pretty much the only thing that felt like a downgrade over my previous A3.

I rather not have sensors installed for ease of swapping wheels and tires. Just need to know if they're lower than where I want them to be at the time.

I had two sets, one for winter and summer each. If I could have had the psi displayed on dash, I would say it would have been worth it, but if that display function can't be added, the aditionsl precision provided by the sensors is just about a waste.

Two sets of sensors isn't bad if the user can program them when they swap out. Wouldn't mind that.

I had a conversation the last time I went in for service at Audi, my advisor said that its not cost effective for the consumer to continue with valve stem TPMS since the battery tends to be expensive and they are only good for 1-2years. I miss having the actual PSI for each tire...

Not sure if my Charista isn't working or what. I went into it today, supposed to have the full version, tried to adjust some settings. I was connected to my OBDII Wi/Fi and had the menus loading on the iPad after a while loading. When I went to change any setting, it wanted me to disconnect from the wi-fi and go into the App Store for some reason. Disconnected from OBD2, reconnected to my home wi-fi, and it froze. Went back onto OBD2, had to reload everything again, then cannot seem to make any changes without disconnecting and it wanting me to buy something from the App Store. Gave up after sitting in my car for way too long getting frustrated. Last time i tried to change things, didn't seem to have an issue, now i guess it thinks I am not on the full version. Sent them an email, i will see what they say.

I turned mine up to 50% but would going to 100% create premature failure? Has anyone had the LED strip burn out yet or is that impossible? Otherwise I'm cranking her up too...

Does anyone know if this can be used to change the coding for the new battery on a car instead of vagcom? I'm assuming not judging by the pictures of the screens in the original post.

Heres how it works, when you do turn it on the gauges are lit just hard to see in daylight. When it starts to get dark and the light sensor senses that then it will turn them off. Its a failsafe so you have to turn your lights on to drive at night or dusk. To check it out, go outside at night and shine a flashlight on the light sensor and your gauges will be bright while its dark outside.

I have to go through a security checkpoint every morning for work and always turn my lights to park position. When I pull up to the well lit checkpoint my gauges get super bright. When I pull away they go dim again.

I think there was a mis communication, I'm the one asking for battery coding not the "gauge lit" thing. I'm sure he will appreciate the response haha thank you!

I've had TPMS sensors in several other cars and I've never had to replace them and I've had those cars over 5yrs in at least two of those. I had inquired about batteries and was told the units were sealed and you would simply replace all four corners and at the time they were under $400 per set if memory servers. Personally I find them pretty useful and very accurate. Given the option I'd choose them over what we have now.
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.
