    tried new dongle, same thing.

tried it on another car, he had even less options than me at the first run, reconnected and he had a bit more, reconnected again and it was less. seemed the options were different every time we connected. im waiting for doug to send me the same dongle that he has, which is identical to mine, to see if its actually the dongle itself, or something else.

Today I successfully used the electronic parking brake feature to swap out my rear pads and rotors. The feature worked perfectly with no issues at all. It's super easy to use - there's one button that says open and one button that says close.

After completing the job, i scanned the car for any fault codes. There was one fault code relating to the parking brake (code 00473). I made sure that the parking brake did in fact work without issue, which it did. I then bedded my brakes and cleared the fault code. Scanned one more time later in the day and it hasn't populated again. Everything appears to be good.

One thing i'll note, which isn't carista-related, is that a C-Clamp didn't do the trick for me to compress the piston (the DIY i was following stated that a C-Clamp should work). I'm glad i happened to have a caliper compression tool handy. I'd recommend having one available before getting started http://www.ecstuning.com/ES8211/

Did you just submit your email on the website, or did you email the support email address? If you haven't tried the latter option, i'd give it a shot. Todor responded pretty quickly when i emailed to get added. [email protected]

    Todor,
The beta notes mentions TPMS. Is this configurable for audi now?

Replied to you by email. Looks like the connection to the OBD port is bad now (as per your latest report).

In about 2 weeks (but this official release won't contain the EPB and service reset functionality yet, as they're not fully done and tested).

But actually, the current iOS beta is kind of closed, i.e. we're removing the TOOLS in order to test the actual release version.

Not for Audi yet, just for Toyota/Lexus/Scion.
What TPMS functionality would be useful for Audis?

    Todor,

I purchased the Carista app installed on my ipad, in hindsight I should have loaded the app on my iphone.
Is there a way I can transfer the Pro version onto my iphone, or do I have to purchase the pro app on there as well?

been posting back and fourth here and the a4 section, don't know which to stick to lol. my latest findings ( and complete timeline of problems) is in there. ill repost here:

    - bought dongle off amazon that people recommended
-bought pro version of carista app
-dongle connects to carista app painfully slow, and limited options
-amazon sends me a second dongle. same thing
    - a buddy sends me the dongle that works for him 100%
-tried the dongle for one day, worked perfectly
-tried it the next day, does not connect
-tried it on a different car, but same make and model, still does not connect

so im thinking, does the ECU or app, in anyway, stop the dongle from working? or do I just have bad luck that the dongle just keeps dying on me?

I also sent you a video of my process and I don't believe I am doing it incorrectly. others have confirmed that that was the method they used and worked, and also the owner of the "working" dongle said that's his procedure as well. does not work for me . it connect from 1%, 2%, 3%, jumps to 5% and then asks me to select make and model and then says unsupported or ignition is not on ( wifi dongle lights are flashing while this is all happening ). any ideas?

with that said, if you are doing the group buy for the carista dongle for 35$ shipped, ill be down just to get it over with. right now the app is useless to me after trying 3 different dongles, when one of them worked perfectly for another person, and does not for me.

Do you use the same apple ID for both devices? If so, you should be able to open up the app store on the device that doesn't have Carista downloaded, go to updates, then select purchased. You should see Carista there. Download it. When you try to use a pro-version feature it will ask you to upgrade to the pro version. It will then recognize that you have already paid and upgrade you without charging you again. This is how it worked for me at least when i downloaded the app to my other iphone.

Edit: bknewtype beat me to it. Hope it works for you

I bought the pro version. Originally couldn't get Carista to work properly. It'll connect and scan all the options which can be edited, but when it comes to actually saving the changes, it can't do it. I figured that is really weird, since the adapter obviously connects and reads fine. So eventually after much frustration I turned off bluetooth after scan is complete, then turned on BT again and tried to save changes. And it worked!

For some reason Carista will drop the connection and is unable to re-establish it. So for each change I want to save, I just toggle off BT and turn it back on again and it's fine.

I assume you're using a generic WiFi adapter? With those, you have to disconnect from the adapter BEFORE pressing "SAVE" and give the iphone/ipad some time to regain internet connectivity. THEN press "SAVE" and it should automatically figure out that you already own the Pro Package and restore that functionality for free.

Are you using the Carista adapter or some generic one? Some crappy generic adapters tend to drop the connection if not used for some number of seconds. It's not the app that drops it. Another trick that might work is to unplug and re-plug the adapter before pressing "SAVE".

TPMS on B8/8.5 uses anti-lock sensors, not physical sensors in the wheels. It's turned on via MMI hidden menu but you need to enable/check a few things with VAGCOM before it will work. I've successfully enabled TPMS to show in the MMI, but it's not enabled.

I can forward a few posts about it if needed.

    Thanks!

Any help would be appreciated. I changed brakes and rotors today. Opening the epb worked but the dash did flash park brake the whole time. I assumed this was normal. After I put everything together. I tried closing the epb. I hear it closing but the get a parking brake malfunction on dash and now I have the park brake flashing as well as the p with a slash through it symbol solid on the dash. Can I even drive it?

Drive it around a bit and see if it comes back. Might just be fluke in a Carista now. You could have emailed them through the app with the issue. Keeps in mind the PB feature is still in beta. I would apply and release the PB a few times before driving and after driving to check it out.

I've noticed it throws a code on mine too. It won't open or close without that code cleared first. Once cleared, all good.

Interesting development... I tried to check error codes with Carista on my iphone 6 tonight, and it gets to 25-30% then stops. I am using a third party OBDII wi-fi reader, and recently updated to iOS 9.0.
I even deleted the app and reloaded it from the App Store.

I then broke out my ipad and tried with that (I have Carista on that too)... went right through no problem. The ipad is also running iOS 9.0... Curious...

Sounds like an email to Todor!!

There was already talk from Todor about the charges. These "once in a while" uses are going to cost $. You don't get them for free. The PB thing was free if you're using the beta version. I didn't think they did an update and released it yet. I'm on ios.

I haven't used it on my iphone yet just my ipad. Also haven't tried it with ios9 either. I've never had an issue with the ipad using 3rd party dongle.

If you've emailed him and asked to be part of the beta, he adds your email address to a test purchase list. Google Pay looks like it will charge you, but clearly says Test Payment before you continue. I've done it twice now, no charge.

...and I'd rather it stay that way!

I have emailed their support about the issues. I even emailed about the convertible top not opening or closing. Didn't get any responses so I didn't expected it on this either. I see there his presence and others on this thread are current so I tried here. Needed to get car running before work today.

I didn't look through all of the 672 posts in this thread, but has anyone asked Todor if he could include a Launch Control Counter to the Carista App?
This would come in handy to see how many you have accumulated, and if you're looking for a CPO S4, how many the previous owner put on!!

Damn, I go on vacation for 3 days and the whole world collapses! :) LOL just kidding. Our customer service rep has been answering emails, but she leaves the highly-technical stuff to me or one of the other developers. Lemme address everything that was said here in the mean time:

Replied to your email yesterday and again just now. Yes, what you're seeing is normal - the parking brake does throw that code in some cases and all you need to do is clear it. I don't recommend driving the car in the state where the light on the button is blinking. But it sounds like you got it all sorted out, and ultimately, you were able to successfully change your brakes with Carista.

Before launching this functionality officially, we'll put together more detailed instructions inside the app that will assist users in cases like this. In fact, I just thought of an idea based on your feedback: why don't we include a button to just reset the EPB ECU's errors instead of checking and resetting all ECUs (and having to get out of the parking brake tool to do it)? Sounds like this would be useful.

Yes, after you get the light in the button itself to stop blinking, you may still have an error code. In that case, cycling the EPB on and off a few times and driving around may help get the car in a state where you can clear that code.

    Yup :)

Yes, slim2fattycake did email us. I expect everyone else to do the same if they run into stuff that doesn't seem normal or intuitive to them, so we can fix it in the app or make better provisions for it (via instructions/explanations/etc.). Thanks for testing, guys!

I just saw your report through the app. It doesn't contain any technical info though, probably because you exited the app in-between experiencing the problem and sending the report. There's nothing different about the app on an iPhone vs. iPad... so it should work on both. The usual things to check are to make sure the ignition is fully on (2 clicks without your foot on the brake) and that the OBD adapter is firmly plugged in (sometimes it can be powered on, but the communication pins may not be making good contact). So yeah, please try again with the iPhone and if it fails again, go back to Carista's main screen, open the slide-out menu and use the "Report a problem" function to send a report. Thanks.

Yup, the EPB tool will require separate payment, but during the beta-testing period, everyone is welcome to use it for free. Just email us at [email protected] and we'll hook you up - either for Android or for iOS.

The EPB tool was temporarily removed from the iOS beta, but will be re-added within a few days, as we're about to release version 2.4 (without tools) today.

Yeah, someone did ask that! And I agree it would be a useful thing to have. We'll look into it, but don't expect it to appear in the app immediately. Sounds doable though.

Hi Todor, I've been following this thread closely to get SRI. I understand it's still in beta. Any update on the production release? I can't find this info easily on your website and itunes shows last update in June. Thanks again. Great app.

You are correct - the SRI tool is still in beta. That's why there's no info about it on our website. We're about to do an app update any day now, but it won't include the SRI functionality. If you're on Android, you can get our beta version here: http://www.caristaapp.com/beta/ and then email us to get "test purchases", so you can try it for free. If you're on iOS, just email us to get on the beta. The email is [email protected]

I'm sure it's been covered, but can you use this app/bt device to log engine perimeters?

Not in real-time it seems. Only to check for codes that have been thrown and setting changes I think. Most use VAG COM to check engine parameters in real time.

You can use bt device and use the Torque app or something similar I believe. Not sure if it logs but realtime is a definite.
