Gear display works on my 2015 S5. It shows "D1" or "S1" depending on which mode I'm in. Would be awesome if I could get gear display to fill most of the display so I wouldn't have to look down and squint at the small print but I'll take what I can get.

If you can't do it in vcds then it won't work in Carista. I have not seen that before within vcds.

There a new beta update , I my self have run in the problem of not wanting to connect . Hopefully this gets resolved . and yes I do own the carista branded device .

I just got my official device a week ago. Guess I have to go check it out to see if it will connect.

Just figured i'd share, I used the Carista blue-tooth OBDII adapter + Carista app as a beta tester to retract the EPB when putting new pads and rotors. All I have to say is, WOW. I had the new pads/rotors on in under an hour. The rear brakes on the S4 (at least) were so easy! 3 bolts...2 for the caliper and the set screw, don't even have to mess with the caliper carrier. Carista app made it sooo easy, although I was a little nervous, so glad I went for it instead of bringing to the stealership. Here's the general outline of what did:
1) Jack the rear up, place on jack stands
2) Remove wheels
3) Crack the 2 caliper bolts and set screw loose
4) Go into the car, put OBDII adapter into port. Turn the ignition "on", cycle EPB on , then off.
5) Open Carista app, and select the "Open" EPB. You will hear the servo motors on the EPB turning, about 30 seconds (my pads were almost down to metal).
6) Turn ignition "off" During this time, and throughout the process, the "parking brake" light was flashing on the dash, and the red LED on the switch was blinking as well.
7) Remove caliper, using a large C-clamp, I pushed the piston back into the caliper so the new pads can be installed. This went very smoothly, no resistance at all when manually retracting piston.
8) Remove rotor set screw, then had to take out my BFH to knock the old rotor free from the hub. Then wiggle out old rotor, no need to even mess with the caliper carrier. Lube up hub with thin layer of anti-seize and install new rotor.
9) Clean off slide pins and re-lube them with new brake grease.
10) Re-install caliper bolts ( I re-used my caliper bolts with some medium strength thread locker, I realize Audi suggests to replace these bolts)
11) Repeat steps 7-10 for other side
12) Go back into car and turn ignition "on" and connect to Carista. Click on the "close" EPB.
13) Put wheels back on and lower car, go bed those new pads!

Overall VERY VERY easy if you have the right tools and some mechanical aptitude, and thanks to the Carista App, this job is possible! Instead of getting slammed with a $500+ quote from the dealership! Hope this helps, thanks Carista!

What is the current beta version? I got msgs from app that there is an update, but no update shows via Test Flight. I'm running 3.0 with a revision date of 12/12/2015

They fixed that problem. Now the beta takes you to payment when you try to change anything and says there is a server misconfiguration issue.

Ok I got the latest Beta version to load on my phone. 3.0 300005. I have a check engine light on my Q5 and Carista found the faults, Lean and air leak in intake. I checked the air filter and do not see any issues so I was going to reset the faults. To reset I must buy the Pro version for $19.99. I know when I reset the service display on my S4 I was not charged the $4.95, but not sure about needing the Pro version to reset faults on the Q5.

Anyone know if the Beta version will charge for the Pro version which apparently is needed to reset faults?

We've just released beta 6 for both Android and iOS. This fixes some purchase issues we had in the previous betas on iOS and adds some more customizations, but not for the B8 platform. It also has some changes to the service reset logic, which does affect the B8. Please try that functionality again, even if you've recently reset it, and when you're done, use the "Report a problem" item to send a report, even if there's no problem. Thanks!

Just to clarify:
- "Pro Package" gives you access to customizations and diagnostics (fault code checking and resetting)
- Service indicator reset is a pay-per-use feature and has nothing to do with the Pro Package
- EPB release is a pay-per-use feature and has nothing to do with the Pro Package

Since we're still testing the new functionality, we're letting people use the pay-per-use stuff for free until it's officially released. On iOS, if you have the beta, everything is already free (email us if you don't have the beta). On Android, email us so we can enable "test purchases" for you. You can get the Android beta by yourself from here: http://www.caristaapp.com/beta/ (but note that getting that doesn't automatically give you free access to the paid features; email us for that).

I missed some discussions here, but if there are still outstanding issues, please let me know. Also, for more urgent issues, always email [email protected] because I don't visit this forum often enough.

Correct, this version doesn't change anything in the implementation of the auto gear display for B8 / Q5 models. There's still a communication timing issue that's mostly due to the ELM327 not responding quickly enough to the transmission ECU. We're trying to work around that problem, but haven't found a solution yet.

I would LOVE the ability to disable the DSR (Driver Steering Recommendation) steering assist functionality through Carista. It is currently possible through VAG-COM and I would really like to see this implemented. Any chance of this?

Yes, I see that you emailed us yesterday and our customer service rep was just asking me about your issue. This sounds like an Apple problem... we're definitely not modifying the Pro Package and haven't modified it in months. Did this happen multiple times? If so, I'd contact Apple's support. Unfortunately, we as the developers don't control anything related to the payments. We just launch a "payment request" and Apple handles it all. The "disconnect from your OBDII" thing is our message (in Carista) and it happens when the purchase fails. However, we don't get any info on why it failed.

Is anyone else here running into issues like that?
