So mine is leaking and the good news is the part is cheap, bad news it looks like a pain to get to it. Have any of you guys replaced this yet? What should I remove, or do you just weasel tools in and out?

Honestly, just look up the thermostat DIY and it is only one extra step at the end, which is removing one screw at the top of the J plug... No need to remove the Intake manifold :) I replaced mine a few months ago and it fell apart in my hands once removed.

Edit: To make this easier on ya, follow this http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...at-Replacement and then the J plug is located here http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-plug-question

If the plug is broken you may want to remove the t stat so you can poke the broken half of the j plug out of the hole so it does not fall into the block. I did mine when I did my headgasket so the intake was out, however removing the alternator looks like it should give you some more room to get in there and leave the intake manifold on.

I didn't know to do mine when I changed my T-stat (did it without pulling the intake manifold, a little bit of a pain but doable). So naturally after I had done the T-stat, the Jplug it started to leak. I had my intake off, so attempted to do the Jplug (without removing the T-stat, didn't want to risk it getting messed up). So of course, the Jplug broke and I had to pull the T-stat to get at it and push it out.

Long story short, you'll probably end up pulling the Tstat to remove the Jplug.

I just did this exchange over the weekend, it definitely was not something to rush over. Having the right tools and such makes a big difference. Like a schwaben tool would have been nice.

Anyways... I broke my oil dipstick funnel in the process, luckily I had this item already.

The bolt to the heater pipe on the further side was insane to get out. I ended up using a ratchet wrench to get this out. I initially tried to use a socket, but it was definitely going to strip the head of that bolt.

I agree with (johnwiz) the T-stat has to come out. If the J-plug breaks... you are gonna have to take the T-stat out anyway, plus you need the room.

ECS tuning guide was a ton og help. I posted it above a few days ago.
